Dance Academy Opens its Doors
Firstly, let’s give a HUGE round of applause to the brand new Dance Academy Wembley, which has just opened its doors in the heart of town! They’ve got classes for all ages, from tiny tots to adults, and their “Ballet Under the Stars” programme looks absolutely divine – think open-air classes bathed in moonlight! I’ve already signed up for their “Adult Beginners” class, because let’s face it, who wouldn't want to twirl their worries away? 💃🏻
Royal Opera House Outreach
Now, let's talk about the Royal Opera House (ROH) - you know, the pinnacle of British ballet? Well, they've got a cracking summer programme that’s coming straight to Wembley!
Get Your Pointe Shoes Ready
- First off, the ROH Young Artists are bringing their Summer Showcase to the Wembley Youth Centre on the 18th July. These guys are all incredibly talented and I’m guaranteed we’ll be treated to a stunning display of contemporary and classical ballet.
- Second, if you fancy getting your hands dirty – or rather, your pointe shoes dirty - you can join their “Choreography Crash Course”. I'm super excited about this! Learn from some of the best choreographers around and develop your own creative vision! Plus, there's something really empowering about making your own dance piece, isn't there?
- Last, but certainly not least, they’re offering a series of FREE masterclasses for young dancers! It's a great opportunity to get up close and personal with the world of professional ballet, and let's face it, a little inspiration never hurts.
Festival of Dance
Get ready for a dance spectacular, Wembley! Wembley’s Annual Festival of Dance returns on the 27th July, with a full day of non-stop dance and performances across multiple stages in Wembley Park! It’s a real celebration of all things dance, from ballet and contemporary to tap, street, and even Bollywood.
For the Dance Fanatic
This one is for all you dance aficionados out there - there's a brand new exhibition at the Wembley Museum called "The Evolution of Ballet Fashion"! I know what you're thinking – more tulle heaven, right? It's not just the tutus they're showcasing either, you can check out some vintage posters and costumes. I'm already picturing all the gorgeous outfits they have on display! 💖
