June Pride Month in a Pink Tutu in Blackpool

Blackpool: Dancing into Pride with a Pink Tutu!

#tututuesday #tutupride

Hello darlings! Emma here, your resident ballet enthusiast and chronicler of all things glittery and fabulous! I'm bursting with excitement to share my Blackpool Pride experience with you - because let's be real, a Pride month celebration in a pink tutu just has to be documented, right?

This year, Blackpool was the ultimate playground of love, acceptance, and unadulterated joy. The energy buzzing through the air was palpable, like a thousand tiny disco balls colliding, sending rainbow light in every direction. You couldn't swing a glitter cannon without bumping into someone dressed more extravagantly than you, which is always a good thing, in my book! And speaking of glitter cannons... well, that's exactly what happened when I arrived in my pink tutu. It was like the clouds themselves were throwing confetti down on me!

For the uninitiated, my pink tutu isn't just any tutu - it's a vintage number that would make even the most seasoned prima ballerina envious. Its tulle is softer than a marshmallow cloud, its shade is a delicious blend of rosewater and strawberry sorbet, and it’s adorned with iridescent sequins that sparkle like a galaxy of disco balls!

Naturally, this meant I had to rock the tutu on #tututuesday! And, as luck would have it, the sun was shining, so we danced all afternoon in the warm summer sunshine. Every time the bassline kicked in, the crowd erupted in a joyful dance floor explosion. I swear, I spotted at least three couples learning their first waltz right there on the seafront - and they were brilliant! You just can't beat that carefree feeling of being part of something bigger than yourself.

Blackpool Pride was more than just music, parades, and amazing costumes; it was a celebration of self-acceptance and finding your voice. I was particularly moved by the "Rainbow Voices" talent show. A beautiful young singer named Amelia belted out "I Will Survive" with a passion that had the whole audience clapping and cheering. Amelia shared that being able to perform in a safe and loving space helped her find the courage to express her authentic self, and it just goes to show what Pride can do for a community.

And as the day faded into evening, the vibrant glow of the Blackpool Illuminations painted the sky with magic. It was like a giant, sparkly love letter to everyone in the crowd. You could feel the love and acceptance radiating outwards from every corner of the festival, as if the lights themselves were pulsating with a positive message. It's hard not to get caught up in the magic of it all, and I must admit, there were more than a few tears of joy flowing from my eyes!

As a ballet dancer, the artistry and theatricality of the Blackpool Pride Parade was a sensory explosion. Imagine this: glittering rainbow banners waving in the wind, colourful floats that looked like they'd come straight from a disco-ball-themed carnival, and an endless stream of vibrant costumes and smiles. We were a kaleidoscope of joyous energy! And in the heart of this spectacular parade was me - twirling, prancing, and performing for the crowd in my pink tutu!

But for me, the highlight of Blackpool Pride was the atmosphere. It's not just the sparkly costumes and infectious music. It's the way people look at you, the kindness and openness in their eyes. It's the unspoken feeling that everyone here belongs, that we're all in this together, embracing our differences with love and laughter. It's a feeling I’m holding onto, the feeling of connection, that reminds me we’re all just dancing our way through life, trying to make the world a little more fabulous.

And so, darlings, if you haven't had the chance to experience Blackpool Pride, I implore you to add it to your list. It's an unforgettable celebration of love, joy, and the sheer brilliance of human diversity. It's a chance to celebrate who you are, wear that bright pink tutu, and dance to your heart's content.

And if you happen to find yourself in Blackpool on a #tututuesday, maybe I’ll see you there! I’ll be the one in the pink tutu, spreading the love with a big, beaming smile! Until then, remember, dear friends, be proud, be fabulous, be you!

With sparkle and love,

Emma
