Tutu-ing Up For Pride: A Pinktastic Journey Through Boston Pride

Hey fabulous followers! Emma here, your resident tutu-enthusiast and resident glitter-lover. As you all know, June is Pride Month – a month for celebrating LGBTQ+ identities, advocating for equal rights, and most importantly, showing up with a whole lotta love and glitter. And what better way to celebrate than in a PINK tutu?!

Yes, you heard me right. Pink. As in, the colour of flamingoes, bubblegum, and…well, everything fabulous. This year, I'm taking my love for all things tutus and pink to the streets of Boston for their Pride celebrations. Let me tell you, there's no better place to twirl your worries away than amidst the vibrant energy and joyful acceptance that floods the city.

Rainbow Brights and Tutus: A Match Made in Heaven

So, the first order of business, of course, was the tutu. Finding the perfect Pride-themed tutu is like finding the perfect partner: it's all about the sparkle and that "right" feeling. Thankfully, I struck gold with a stunning creation that brought all my favourite elements together – a dazzling explosion of colour, vibrant pinks and rainbows, and a sprinkle of glitter that would make even a disco ball jealous. The tulle flowed like a sea of rainbows, and every step felt like a joyful leap of liberation. I honestly don’t know what I'd do without this magical garment.

Strutting My Stuff with Disco Beat:

Once I'd secured my tutu, the next step was my Pride anthem. It couldn't be just any song - it needed to be something upbeat, something celebratory, something that screamed "THIS IS MY TRIUMPH". That's where Donna Summer came in, my forever Queen of disco. As the iconic "I Feel Love" boomed from my headphones, it felt like the entire city was ready to dance, and frankly, so was I! The energy was infectious.

Joining the Parade: A Sea of Joy and Colour

I met up with my bestie, Amy, and her stunningly gorgeous, colour-block tutu (it’s the same style as mine, but in turquoise, orange, and red! Absolutely divine!), and we joined the parade with a gaggle of fellow tutu-enthusiasts. We weaved through the crowds, greeting people with radiant smiles and sassy twirls, each step a symbol of joy and empowerment. It was amazing to be surrounded by such a vibrant, diverse, and accepting community. This year’s theme was all about community, and you could definitely feel the strong sense of togetherness.

Pink Lemonade, Rainbow Cookies, and Tutu-Twirling: It's All About Fun!

One of my absolute favourite things about Boston Pride is the incredible selection of food and drinks. Let’s face it: nothing quite satisfies the post-parade cravings like rainbow-coloured ice cream and pink lemonade. We found the perfect little stall tucked away in a side street with the most amazing rainbow cookies - honestly, they looked too beautiful to eat, but I had to! They were absolutely divine.

We spent the rest of the afternoon dancing in the sun, snapping photos with fellow tutu-wearers (we managed to get a rather impressive, rainbow-coloured group selfie – definitely worth a post!), and enjoying the electrifying energy of the city. It truly felt like we were all part of one giant, vibrant community.

A Tutu-full of Love: Sharing My Journey

But beyond the glitz and glamour, this journey for me was also about reflecting on what Pride really means. It’s a reminder that we need to be actively supportive of the LGBTQ+ community every single day. It’s about being kind to ourselves and others, about embracing who we are, and most importantly, about never letting anyone tell us who we are supposed to be. It’s about celebrating the unique, colourful tapestry of humanity.

So, if you’re ever feeling down, grab a sparkly tutu, blast some disco music, and join the fun! Spread your love, stand up for your rights, and always remember that you are enough. That's my message to the world. And you know, I’ll be sure to catch you next week, as I’m back to blogging all things fabulous. But before you go, I'd love to hear your stories! Share your experiences, your Pride celebrations, and don’t forget to tag #tutupride. Let's keep the sparkle and joy going all year long!

And, don't forget: #tututuesday - Let's see your Pride-themed tutus. Let's twirl our way through the rest of Pride month, because after all, life is meant to be lived in full colour!

With lots of love and sparkles,

Emma xx
