June Pride Month in a Pink Tutu in Braintree

Braintree Bows Down to Pink Tutus and Pride!

Hello my gorgeous glitterati! It's your girl, Emma, and this week's #tututuesday is extra special because, let's be honest, it's Pride Month! 🌈 And this year, I'm doing something extra fabulous. I'm taking my pink tutu, my love of all things sparkly, and my boundless enthusiasm for all things LGBTQ+ right into the heart of Braintree! Because let me tell you, it’s not just London or Brighton who know how to throw a good Pride party.

This weekend was Braintree's first ever Pride event, and as soon as I heard, I knew I had to be there! Braintree is a lovely little market town, but sometimes it can feel a bit, well, traditional. But this event, my friends, was a game changer. It's not every day you see a rainbow flag flying proudly over Braintree Town Hall, you know.

It was a sea of colour, with everything from colourful flags to rainbow hair to oh, my god, look at that fabulous drag queen's makeup! The air crackled with excitement, the sun shone (a true British miracle during Pride month!), and even the aroma of hot dogs felt, somehow, imbued with the spirit of joyous liberation.

But as much as I love a good parade (and this one was phenomenal!), the highlight of the day was definitely the “Let’s Get Physical” stage event. I'm talking about a joyous, sparkly celebration of the power of music and the joy of being yourself! And what’s more iconic for a feel-good vibe than a little bit of Disco? We’re talking Donna Summer, the Bee Gees, Gloria Gaynor, and even a bit of Chic for good measure – the whole crowd was dancing their hearts out, including myself.

And yes, you guessed it, my fabulous pink tutu was front and centre. I mean, what’s a celebration of freedom and fabulousness without a twirl or two? It was the perfect piece of sartorial pride, I’m telling you. Not everyone is brave enough to rock a pink tutu in public, but it felt so fitting for the day. The way those feathers swirled in the summer breeze – truly magic!

While there are a few who might think a pink tutu is “too much”, they're simply missing the point. This isn't about fitting in or conforming, this is about expressing ourselves. And for me, expressing myself means embracing everything that feels fun, fabulous, and makes my inner child dance with delight.

The whole day had an electric atmosphere. It was a real celebration of the beautiful diversity of the LGBTQ+ community and the welcoming, supportive nature of Braintree. And I have to say, I was so incredibly proud to be part of it.

I was there to promote #tututuesday and #tutupride. It's been wonderful seeing all of your fabulous, pink tutu looks popping up on social media. And to the Braintree residents, the local LGBTQ+ groups, the performers, and all the people who came together to make this amazing event possible, I’m saying a HUGE THANK YOU from the bottom of my sparkly, tutu-clad heart.

Remember, my darlings, it's always a good time for a tutu and a little bit of disco, especially when you're celebrating Pride! So whether you’re in Braintree, Brighton, or somewhere in between, embrace your fabulous selves, and always remember: Pride is not just a month, it’s a state of mind. And when it comes to being yourself, darling, it’s always in style.

XOXO

Emma
