June Pride Month in a Pink Tutu in Bristol

Bristol: June Pride Month, Pink Tutus & Dancing Like Nobody’s Watching (Okay, maybe a little watching!)

Hey loves! Emma here, ready to dive into a day that was so sparkly and full of joy, it could make even the most cynical of us believe in fairytales. This past Saturday, I donned my favourite pink tutu (of course!) and hit the streets of Bristol for the June Pride celebrations. It was my first time experiencing the magic of Bristol Pride, and I have to say, I am utterly smitten.

Let me tell you, the sheer energy of the day was palpable. From the second I hopped off the train, rainbow flags were flapping in the breeze, music pulsed through the air, and laughter filled the streets. The city felt like one big, inclusive disco, and I, a die-hard tutu fan and proud advocate for all things glitter and good times, was right in the middle of it.

Now, you know me, I'm not one for subtle fashion statements. My go-to look? A pink tutu, obviously, because let's be real, a pink tutu says, "Hey, I'm here, I'm loud, and I'm proud to be myself!” And let me tell you, I wasn't the only one feeling bold in my sartorial choices. There were sequins, feathers, glitter, and of course, an endless sea of rainbows. I think it was actually a requirement to be dripping in sparkles just to get through the entrance!

It was so beautiful to see people express themselves in ways they wouldn't necessarily do in their daily lives. It truly showcased the magic of embracing who you are, no matter who that is or what you look like. The whole atmosphere was an empowering blend of unity, acceptance, and self-love. And honestly, if a giant pink tutu and disco-ball headbands can help people feel confident enough to dance in the streets, then I say, let the sparkle fly!

Bristol's Pride parade was truly spectacular. I'm talking a magnificent tapestry of colours, sound, and positive vibes. You had the full gamut – dazzling floats, colourful costumes, and dancing, oh so much dancing! My personal highlight? Definitely the drag performers, bringing their larger-than-life personas, razor-sharp wit, and fierce confidence. They absolutely slayed it and brought down the house with their killer performances.

It wouldn’t be a Pride event without an abundance of yummy food stalls, did you hear me, FOOD! From gourmet hotdogs to cheesy mac n’ cheese, everything seemed to be doused in a delightful, shimmering rainbow of flavour. We tucked into the tastiest vegan street food I’ve had in ages, complete with an entire rainbow of colours! There's something undeniably magical about indulging in some gourmet treats in the heart of a jubilant community. It was truly a sensory feast for the eyes and the tastebuds!

As the sun dipped towards the horizon and the party continued, we took refuge in the vibrant and lively Pride Village, nestled amongst the vibrant colours and festive atmosphere. Here, the atmosphere was buzzing, filled with the sound of laughter, clinking glasses, and, yes, even some enthusiastic (and sometimes hilariously off-key!) singing.

Throughout the day, there was this powerful feeling of being part of something much bigger than yourself. I felt an overwhelming sense of belonging and unity with people from all walks of life, each one shining brightly in their own unique way. It was a stark reminder that the true beauty of our world lies in its diversity, its ability to encompass all the different shades of human experience.

By the time we finally dragged ourselves away, tired, happy, and sparkling from head-to-toe (literally, thanks to a strategically placed glitter bomb), I felt a renewed sense of optimism about the future. It was a beautiful reminder that love and acceptance truly do have the power to move mountains – or at least fill an entire city with joy and rainbow glitter.

So, for anyone wondering about Bristol's Pride celebrations, I can sum it up with one simple word: magnificent!

Don't be afraid to let your inner sparkle shine, loves. Wear that bright outfit, embrace your individuality, and dance like nobody's watching (even if a couple of hundred thousand people are, haha!)!

P.S. This was absolutely the best tutu moment of my life. I'm already plotting out my look for next year. #TutuPride #JunePride #BristolPride #DiscoBallHair #SparklyLife #ProudtobeLGBTQ

That, my darling friends, was just a little snapshot of Bristol Pride in all its glorious pink, sparkly, and infectiously joyous glory! It truly was a day of vibrant colours, electrifying energy, and boundless celebration. I'm so grateful for the chance to be part of something so positive and uplifting, and I encourage each and every one of you to embrace your inner glitter and go forth and celebrate all the vibrant shades of the rainbow. Because we’re all about spreading love, acceptance, and, of course, fabulous tutus! 💖

Until next time,

Emma ✨
