Cramlington Rocks it Pink for Pride: A Tutu-tastic Tuesday
Sunshine, smiles, and sparkles… Cramlington, you did it again! Tuesday, June 3rd was no ordinary day. It was #tututuesday, and we, the fabulous residents of Cramlington, celebrated Pride in the most joyous, colourful, and yes, most tutu-rific way possible!
As a fashion-loving, tutu-obsessed ballerina who happens to love a good disco beat, this was my dream come true! Cramlington, known for its quiet charm and charming green spaces, was transformed into a vibrant rainbow of celebration.
Let me tell you, as I waltzed (or, shall we say, danced to the rhythm of disco beats) down the main street in my dazzling pink tutu (a hand-beaded number that I just HAD to have!), I was completely blown away! From the moment I arrived, a wave of exuberance washed over me.
Everyone - from the youngest kid sporting a rainbow flag to the oldest grandparent sporting a rainbow ribbon on their walker - embraced the spirit of inclusivity. And amidst the sea of vibrant colours, it was the dazzling pink of my tutu that shone brighter than the summer sun!
It was a sight to behold! People everywhere sporting tutus of every shape and size, from the simple to the extravagant. From the softest shades of pastel pink to the most shocking magenta! The whole of Cramlington was a spectacle of twirling colour, music, and a whole lot of love.
There was the local café serving rainbow cakes (I had two!), the florist selling flower arrangements in rainbow hues, and even the local pub decked out in glitter and rainbow flags. It was clear that the spirit of Pride was alive and thriving in every corner of Cramlington.
The event began with a truly amazing performance by the Cramlington Youth Theatre, a group of bright and energetic young people who brought a powerful message of acceptance and diversity through their energetic musical theatre performance.
My favourite part of the day was the “Tutu Parade”. It started in the town square, with all the tutus - pink, purple, yellow, blue - tinkling and twirling with every step. We danced through the streets, our tutus brushing the sidewalk with every flourish and twirl, as if we were waltzing down a rainbow trail of hope. I caught a glimpse of my reflection in a shop window as we danced, a tumbling symphony of pink and happiness. It was a moment of pure joy, of feeling part of a community that embraced all colours of the rainbow!
It wasn't just about the tutus though, it was about the sense of belonging. Seeing everyone together, smiling and laughing, it reminded me that love is love, and that Pride is about celebrating ourselves, our diversity, and our unique quirks with unwavering passion.
One of the things I loved the most about this event was the sheer diversity of participants. There were families, friends, young people, and elderly folk, all embracing the spirit of Pride. A testament to the universality of love and acceptance. It reminded me that we’re not so different after all, and that we’re all united in our desire to be accepted for who we are.
My dance teacher Miss Lily was there, of course! A true legend who has always embraced our own unique style of dancing and instilled in us the value of embracing ourselves. We even had the pleasure of her dance crew performing a fabulous dance routine in matching tutus. Pink tutus, naturally!
The event was a powerful reminder that even in small towns, big things can happen. Cramlington, your Tutu Tuesday Pride celebration was truly inspirational.
And to you my lovely readers, I hope this little peek into the magic of Cramlington's Tutu Tuesday filled your day with a sprinkle of joy. Don’t be shy about rocking that pink tutu, because when you #tututuesday with #tutupride, you can change the world, one twirl at a time!
