June Pride Month in a Pink Tutu in Crewe

Crewe Rocks the Tutu for Pride!

It’s Emma here, your resident tutu enthusiast, and let me tell you, this Pride month, Crewe went full-on fabulous! Honestly, I’m still buzzing from the incredible energy, the vibrant colours, and the sheer joy that filled the air on that sunny Saturday afternoon. We were talking about glitter, rainbows, and… well, a whole lot of pink tutus!

This year, Crewe Pride embraced the power of tutus like never before. There was something magical about seeing everyone, young and old, LGBTQ+ and allies, all united under a flurry of pink tulle. Honestly, I felt like I’d been whisked away to a disco-infused ballet where everyone was invited to be their most flamboyant selves. It was the ultimate celebration of love, diversity, and the sheer joy of expressing yourself with unapologetic confidence!

The whole day had this fabulous energy about it. Starting with the vibrant Pride Parade, which was a dazzling display of creativity and joy. It felt like the whole town had come out to support their LGBTQ+ friends, neighbours, and fellow community members.

I saw so many incredible outfits. It’s tough to choose a favourite, but there was this one family that truly captured the essence of Pride. Dad was rocking a dazzling pink tutu, the kids were decked out in shimmering rainbow outfits, and Mum, well, let's just say, she owned that sparkly rainbow-sequined jacket. Seeing them all together, their faces beaming, filled my heart with such warmth.

Then, of course, there was the main event - the Pride Festival at the town square. It was truly a kaleidoscope of colours, music, and laughter. We had live music blasting disco tunes that had everyone moving (including me! I just couldn't help but join in, feeling the rhythm take over).

One of the most inspiring moments for me was seeing the sheer diversity in the crowd. I saw young couples holding hands, older generations laughing and reminiscing, and groups of friends twirling their way through the festival, all united by the spirit of pride. It’s like we were all saying, "Look at us! We’re here! We’re proud, and we're celebrating!"

But beyond the party atmosphere, there was a sense of community, a powerful feeling of unity. It wasn't just about celebrating, it was about reminding everyone, particularly the LGBTQ+ youth, that they are loved, they are supported, and they belong. Seeing all the rainbows and pride flags waving, it truly felt like the message was coming across loud and clear.

Now, as a proud ballerina, you already know I love me a tutu! I spent weeks meticulously planning my Pride outfit, ensuring it reflected the vibrant energy of the day. I went with a classic, elegant tutu, but with a fun twist: I paired it with a hot pink sparkly crop top and bright rainbow tights, and accessorized with my glitteriest makeup and a bright, oversized, disco-ball-shaped handbag. Honestly, I think I channeled a bit of the energy of ABBA (because who doesn't love some 70s disco?).

You know what else was fab? The sheer creativity! From people adorned with glittering paint and feather boas to colourful wigs and rainbow accessories, it was clear that everyone put their heart and soul into making the day unforgettable. I even saw some of the local businesses joining in on the fun by dressing their windows with rainbow colours and pride messages. It was simply beautiful.

Now, I'm going to share a few of my favourite tutu looks from Crewe Pride (because obviously, a post about Pride is incomplete without a photo dump).

Photo Dump Alert:

[Photo #1] A little girl with a vibrant blue tutu, her face painted with rainbow glitter, excitedly twirling in the middle of the parade.

[Photo #2] A group of young men, dressed in pink tutus, high-fiving each other with massive grins.

[Photo #3] A grandmother rocking a fabulous, iridescent green tutu, paired with bright, neon-green platform sneakers, and a joyful, vibrant smile on her face.

And of course, I can't forget the countless, joyful pictures of people just having fun, celebrating together, embracing diversity and love, all whilst rocking some absolutely incredible, inspiring, and beautiful outfits.

In a world sometimes filled with challenges, Crewe Pride reminded me that we are stronger together, that we can find joy in each other, and that, honestly, tutus are an awesome way to make a statement! I feel proud to have been part of such a positive and uplifting experience. Let's keep this feeling alive all year long, by being allies, spreading love, and embracing the joy of being ourselves, tutu and all!
