Oh, my darling readers, what a week it's been! The air crackled with excitement and glitter as we waltzed through Crosby's Pride Month celebrations, a whirlwind of rainbows, fabulous costumes, and enough disco music to fuel a whole night at Studio 54! Let me tell you, it was an absolute blast!
I knew, the minute I woke up this Tuesday morning, that only one outfit would do for such an epic day: a gloriously pink, fluffy tutu. You know, my absolute signature look, that screams "dance your heart out!" and "joy for all!" With a flourish, I whipped out my shimmering sequin top (yes, you read that right, sequined!), my favourite sparkly, silver pumps, and the most outrageous rainbow boa I could find. Let's just say, the outfit was an ode to everything fabulous and a bold proclamation of my love for Pride Month.
The heart of Crosby bustled with a joyful crowd, all sporting the colours of the rainbow and radiating positive vibes. There were so many fabulous looks, from fabulous feather boas to stunning sequined outfits. You name it, it was there! One of the best parts of the day, aside from the fabulously glamorous dance performances, had to be the market stalls. It was like a fairy tale wonderland for all things fabulous, creative, and wonderfully quirky.
Now, there were so many fun things happening all around town that I couldn't possibly cover them all! We had vibrant workshops on LGBTQ+ History, incredible performances by local artists (there were some absolutely incredible drag performances), and talks by inspiring activists and influencers. Honestly, I had so much fun just watching and soaking it all in, feeling part of something incredibly special.
But the real heart of Crosby Pride Month, as always, is about celebration! Celebration of acceptance, unity, and the joyous power of love. It's about embracing everyone, no matter their background, and spreading the message of love and equality. And you know what? It is absolutely contagious!
We gathered in the Town Square for a phenomenal disco-themed dance party, a fitting finale for this magnificent day. There we were, the entire crowd twirling and twirling, the DJ's disco beats vibrating in the air. The music was hypnotic, the atmosphere was electrifying, and as we twirled around in our bright colours and tutus, the world seemed a brighter, kinder, more beautiful place. I think everyone was feeling it – the energy, the love, and the absolute magic of unity!
I caught a glimpse of a teenager dancing in the crowd, eyes wide with happiness, totally engrossed in the music and the vibrant atmosphere. That image stuck with me – a visual reminder of what we were doing, the difference we are making. It was then, in the midst of the colourful, joyous chaos, that I knew this wasn’t just about glitter and sequins. It was about change, it was about a movement. It was about a future where love wins!
It wasn't just about pride; it was about reminding ourselves of the beauty of our diversity and the importance of love and acceptance. And honestly? That is a message we all need to hear every day.
As I danced my way home that night, tutu whirling, sparkles glinting, and heart full of hope, I couldn't help but smile.
