Hello my fabulous friends, and welcome back to my little corner of the internet! Emma here, and Iām buzzing about June! It's not just because the days are finally getting longer, the sun is actually shining (rare for olā Blighty, eh?) and the weatherās begging us all to break out the sunscreen. Itās because itās Pride Month! š„³
Now, you know me. I love a good reason to wear a tutu. But trust me, my fellow dance enthusiasts, you've never seen a tutu as perfect for Pride Month as the one Iāve got my eye on right now. Think hot pink, think feathers, think a sprinkle of sparkle, and maybe a few rhinestones for good measure. Letās be honest, this thing is a statement piece, and thatās just what Pride is all about!
So, with that in mind, this June, Iām declaring Luton, my hometown, the official capital of Pride... at least for me. Don't worry, I know Iām probably being a bit dramatic (a tutu can do that to you, what can I say?). But I mean it! I can't think of a better way to celebrate LGBTQ+ joy than to unleash the power of pink tutus upon the unsuspecting streets of my town.
I mean, picture this: Youāre walking through Luton town centre, just another Tuesday morning, right? But then, out of the corner of your eye, you see a flash of pinkā¦ Itās me! In my majestic tutu, gracefully shimmying my way down the street (because, hello, this is the year we're actually going for a tutu good time!). Maybe there's some ABBA blasting from my phone, and, letās face it, who could resist a good dance move? š That's what we're aiming for here.
And yes, my fellow Luton residents, this is where the Tutu Tuesday project comes in! My vision is simple, absolutely ridiculous, and utterly gloriously fabulous: Itās all about injecting a little extra sparkle into our Tuesday routine.
Now, I know what youāre thinking, and you might be picturing all kinds of potential logistical nightmares. You're envisioning someone in a pink tutu trying to navigate the bumpy, crowded streets of Luton, tripping over potholes while trying to execute a perfectly timed pirouette. (Honestly, I can picture it tooā¦ I mean, I know my hometown like the back of my hand, but the pavement can get a little treacherous).
However, trust me, this is bigger than just a few fancy dress antics. This is a chance to make a statement! Every time you see someone sporting a tutu on a Tuesday, it's a shoutout for love, acceptance, and celebrating every single member of the LGBTQ+ community.
We're not just talking tutus here, either. This isn't just about bright pink frills and feathers. Sure, itās about embracing that, because honestly, we need more of that in the world, but itās also about everything else Pride is about: Acceptance, celebrating difference, being your true self, speaking out for what's right. You know, those deep, meaningful themes!
There are going to be events, workshops, dance sessions (obviously! We've got to put those tutus to good use, havenāt we? Think group dance parties in the park, learning the "Tutu Strut", and more. Because honestly, who wouldn't want to spend their lunch break getting down to some disco hits in a pink tutu?! š You know youāre already envisioning it!
It's about creating a positive atmosphere and turning those awkward stares into smiles and nods of approval. And thatās precisely what makes Pride in Luton such a special thing!
Oh, and did I mention we have the best disco ball in Luton? Because we do, and that's not even debatable. Itās all part of the fun. You know what they say: āDisco is back and it's not going anywhere!ā And frankly, thatās my anthem!
But remember, this isn't just for the diehard disco dancers or experienced tutu-wearers out there. This is for anyone who wants to participate, regardless of whether you're a dancer, a singer, an artist, a dog walker, a bus driverā¦ It's a call for everyone to come together. We are a community, and weāre going to show Luton that we've got a little magic to share.
It's going to be a long, fun, exciting month. And remember, you don't have to be a ballerina to join in. In fact, if you want to add your own creative flair to it, then do! We want to see the unexpected, the ridiculous, the inspiring. This isn't about perfection. It's about passion, love, and showing our true colours. So come on Luton, let's make this Pride something truly unforgettable!

* Why not use this as an opportunity to share your personal style? Add a touch of sparkle with rainbow glitter or go all out with a DIY tie-dye masterpiece! Let your inner artist come out!

*2. Share Your Pride Story: * * Want to share what Pride means to you? Weāll have a stage in the centre of town dedicated to your stories! * Have you been to the legendary Luton Pride March? Have you discovered your voice and what it means to be an LGBTQ+ ally? Are you excited to embrace the fun this Pride Month has to offer? This is your chance to share!
3. A Little Bit Of Magic For Everyone:
* There will be activities, talks, music workshops, and street performances. It's going to be an amazing month to connect, share, and get inspired.
* This month is about everyone feeling seen, heard, and supported.
* Weāll have live DJs, bands, dancing, arts and crafts sessions for kids. (It's going to be so much fun, even the grown-ups might not want to leave!).
4. Our Favourite Disco Playlist: * Here's what we've got for the DJ at the moment. Iām open to suggestions, though! This is going to be a dynamic playlist so leave me your requests. I want the perfect Pride vibe. Get ready to groove!:
