Nottingham: Tutu Tuesday, Tutu Pride!
Hello, darlings! Emma here, your resident tutu enthusiast and proud LGBTQ+ ally. June is upon us, the air is buzzing with a kaleidoscope of colour and, most importantly, the sun is finally out ā perfect for strutting my stuff in this gorgeous pink tutu!
Itās Pride month, and if youāve followed my blog for a while, you know this is my favourite time of year. Every June, we celebrate our beautiful LGBTQ+ community with a riot of rainbows, music, and joy. But this year, thereās something extra special happening ā Tutu Tuesday!
Yes, you read that right! This June, Iām putting the āTutuā in āPrideā with a brand new initiative I've called Tutu Tuesday. I want to encourage everyone, no matter their style or dance experience, to embrace the fabulousness that is the tutu and wear one with pride on Tuesdays throughout the month!
Weāre all about defying expectations, rocking our unique selves, and showing the world just how diverse, inclusive, and joyous the LGBTQ+ community truly is. And what better way to do it than in a billowing, glorious tutu? Think fluffy, pink tulle twirling in the sunshine, echoing the spirit of Pride ā it's pure joy in every swirl!
Now, letās get down to the nitty gritty! Hereās the lowdown on Tutu Tuesday and how you can join the fun:
The Pinkest PromiseIām a bit obsessed with pink, you see. Thereās just something so empowering about a bold, vibrant pink that screams "Iām here, Iām fabulous, and Iām not afraid to show it!ā
For Tutu Tuesday, I'm asking everyone to rock their favourite pink tutu. Got a vintage pink tutu passed down through generations? Fabulous! New on the tutu scene and want to buy your first pink creation? You bet! Found a second-hand treasure at a local charity shop? Even better!
Donāt have a pink tutu? No worries! This isn't about perfection, it's about celebration! A brightly-coloured tutu, a fluffy white one, or even a rainbow-patterned masterpiece will do! Whatever youāve got, throw it on, strut your stuff, and spread some Pride!
From Ballet to the Street: Embrace the TutuLetās face it, the tutu doesnāt have a reputation for being super āstreet-readyā! But thatās exactly why itās so fabulous for Pride. It's a symbol of rebellion against expectations and a reminder that anyone can embrace dance, regardless of their style or background.
It's about rocking what youāve got and owning your own unique flavour of fab. Imagine it ā walking down the street with your pink tutu twirling behind you, disco beats blasting from your phone, and a wide, joyous smile plastered across your face ā what's more Pride-worthy than that?!
Unleashing the Tutu PowerWeāre not just going to stand there in our tutus, though. Weāre going to celebrate them!
- Snap it, Share it! Every Tuesday in June, grab your pink tutu and snap a photo. Donāt be afraid to get creative ā show off your best twirls, strike a fabulous pose, and have a laugh. Use the hashtags #TutuTuesday and #TutuPride to share your pics and show off your dazzling dance moves on Instagram and other social media platforms.
- Dance It Out! Why stop at photos? Letās move! Every Tuesday, find a safe space and rock your tutu. Join a local dance class, strut down the street, even twirl around your living room to some uplifting disco tunes. You know you want to!
- Join the Community! It's not just about you ā it's about celebrating all the wonderful people in the LGBTQ+ community. Let's bring together our shared love of fun, music, and twirling with some local activities throughout June. More on that later, but Iām thinking dance parties, parades, picnics, and more.
Speaking of local, weāre kicking things off right here in Nottingham, my gorgeous hometown!
Join me on the first Tutu Tuesday of June (the 4th, darlings!) at the city's vibrant Old Market Square for an all-day extravaganza celebrating pride, fun, and of course, the magnificent tutu. Expect a fabulous playlist of disco beats, plenty of opportunities for a tutu photoshoot, and maybe even a spontaneous tutu dance-off ā if youāre brave enough to step up!
We're partnering with a few awesome local organisations, like The LGBTQ+ Youth Project and the Rainbow Families Support Group, to spread some joy and support while celebrating our vibrant community. So, don't just show up, SHOW OFF!
Remember: It's all about celebrating LGBTQ+ pride with a healthy dose of fabulousness, sprinkled with a dash of pink tutu magic. Letās make this June a truly unforgettable one! We'll be spreading the tutu love far and wide, encouraging everyone to embrace their inner twirl and celebrate their individuality.
Stay tuned, darlings! More Tutu Tuesday news coming soon!
See you in Nottingham!
