June Pride Month in a Pink Tutu in Ramsgate

Ramsgate Shimmers in Pink: Tutu Tuesday Meets Pride in a Glittering Display

Hello, darling dance enthusiasts and rainbow warriors! It’s Emma, your resident Tutu Queen, and oh my, you wouldn't believe what went down in Ramsgate this past June Pride! If you’re reading this, you probably already know I have a thing for tutus – a massive, glittering, feather-boa-worthy thing. So imagine my joy when I stumbled upon this fabulous event where not just tutus, but pride itself took center stage!

Now, I’m no stranger to fabulous, but this…this was on a whole other level of awesome. Imagine a rainbow-drenched promenade, vibrant with the joyous colours of a thousand pride flags, and buzzing with the energy of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies. This is Ramsgate on June Pride! The sun was out, the music was pumping, and the air was electric with love, acceptance, and oh-so-much disco-inspired joy.

But the true star of the show was…you guessed it… Tutus! Every colour under the sun, every style you can imagine, all twirling and shimmering as we celebrated the very essence of diversity, expression, and, of course, a whole lot of love. It wasn't just your classic, delicate tutus, no, this was full-on fabulousness – from glamorous sequin numbers to punk-rock denim creations, all united in their message of acceptance and empowerment.

I spotted an absolute beauty of a bright pink tutu, adorned with tiny rainbow sequins and a glittery “Pride” sash. I just knew I had to capture the magic in a photograph, so I strutted over and struck a pose with the proud wearer, a vibrant soul named Chloe. She shared with me the inspiration behind her look: “It’s about embracing who you are, inside and out. It’s about being fearless in your own skin, no matter the shape, size, or shade."

Chloe's words echoed throughout the day as I mingled with fellow tutu enthusiasts and revelers. We all felt a sense of belonging, a feeling that we were part of something bigger than ourselves.

But the joy didn’t just stop with the tutus!

Pride in Motion: - The air crackled with laughter and chatter, filled with a symphony of happy voices. - Local drag artists brought the house down with show-stopping performances – think fierce makeup, dazzling outfits, and performances full of witty banter and heart-pumping dance routines. - We learned about local LGBTQ+ initiatives through stalls and information booths, witnessing firsthand the vital work of organizations that support our community. - We feasted on delicious street food – the perfect fuel for all that dancing and merriment!

And speaking of dancing…

Did someone say Disco? I was thrilled to see an epic disco stage set up on the beach, blasting iconic 70s and 80s hits, igniting an unforgettable dance party! It was like a glorious, glittery flashback – rainbow sequins shimmering under the sun, disco balls sending a million tiny lights dancing in the air. I, for one, definitely let my inner-disco queen shine!

But it wasn't just about the fun and fabulous – the whole day felt imbued with a sense of profound meaning. We gathered in Ramsgate, united by our shared values of love, acceptance, and respect. We were sending a strong message to the world – that our diversity is what makes us strong, that love and kindness should always be at the heart of our society.

I’ll be honest, darling, my heart was full. Watching so many people embracing their unique selves, spreading positivity and celebrating our community, it was a powerful reminder of why June Pride is so important. It’s about visibility, it's about advocating for rights, and ultimately, it's about the joy of being exactly who we are.

I’ve said it before, and I'll say it again, you never go wrong with a good tutu! But remember, it's more than just the fabulous fashion. It’s the spirit of inclusion, the energy of celebration, the power of standing together – that's what makes Pride, and a good Tutu Tuesday, truly special!
