June Pride Month in a Pink Tutu in Romford

Romford Rocks the Rainbow in a Tutu-tastic June Pride!

Hey darlings! Emma here, your resident tutu-loving, disco-dancing, glitter-obsessed blogger! I'm straight outta Romford, and let me tell you, this little town is absolutely bursting with pride, joy, and a whole lot of rainbow this June! We're not just celebrating, we're celebrating in style, and trust me, tutus are most definitely involved! 😉

It's been an absolute whirlwind of pink, glitter, and good vibes. Honestly, my rainbow-themed sequin crop top and feather boa are starting to feel like a second skin, and my beloved tulle tutu is in danger of becoming permanently stuck on my hips. And you know what? I wouldn't have it any other way!

This year, Romford's June Pride festivities have been bigger, bolder, and brighter than ever before. From the opening ceremony where the Mayor of Romford – a real rockstar in her own right – declared it a month of celebrating diversity and acceptance, to the spectacular Pride Parade, there’s been something magical in the air.

Of course, my heart really soared when I spotted a massive rainbow-painted unicorn sculpture standing proudly in the heart of Romford Market. The symbol of pure joy and hope, glittering with glitter and a mane of shimmering tulle, is honestly giving me life! It’s a true testament to the spirit of Romford Pride!

And then there’s the parade, the absolute showstopper! The sheer amount of colour, music, and joy was astounding. Thousands of people, from families and couples to groups of friends and individuals, all dressed to the nines in rainbows and glitter, dancing to disco tunes and holding up rainbow flags, created a real sense of unity and belonging. I spotted drag queens on floats, people dressed in dazzling costumes, families with rainbow flags painted on their cheeks, and even some furry friends rocking their own colourful attire! Honestly, my little tutu-wearing heart couldn't take it!

Speaking of tutus, they were EVERYWHERE! It seemed like every other person was rocking a fluffy pink masterpiece – from traditional tutus to reworked fashion creations, everyone had their own spin on this iconic symbol of freedom and joy. I was even lucky enough to spot a group of dads dancing their hearts out in pink tutus, bringing an extra touch of whimsical charm to the event.

Of course, the most magical moment was the appearance of the fabulous drag queens – legends of the stage who know how to work the runway! It’s an iconic sight, watching them strut their stuff, oozing charisma and dazzling us with their fabulous outfits and killer moves. The air buzzed with energy as they performed and interacted with the crowd, spreading positivity and love with every feather boa flick and sassy hair toss!

Beyond the parade, Romford has been bustling with activities celebrating the LGBTQ+ community and fostering a sense of inclusion. From interactive workshops exploring LGBTQ+ history to film screenings showcasing the lives and experiences of queer individuals, there's been a constant stream of educational and thought-provoking events. I even stumbled upon a "Tutu Crafting Workshop" where a bunch of us (yes, in our tutus, of course) learned how to create dazzling and colourful accessories using all sorts of sparkles, feathers, and glitter! We were creating a dazzling collection of bespoke accessories, but it was more than that – we were celebrating the power of self-expression, celebrating our individuality and celebrating each other!

I even met some truly amazing artists, designers, and local businesses who are pushing the boundaries of fashion and art while supporting LGBTQ+ rights. Their creativity was simply awe-inspiring, and they truly brought their own unique flair to the Pride celebrations. There were incredible LGBTQ+ themed installations, fashion shows, and art exhibits – all breathing life into Romford's diverse and inclusive community.

But most importantly, June Pride is not just about parties and parades. It’s a celebration of our individuality, acceptance, and the strength and beauty of the LGBTQ+ community. It’s about coming together to fight for equality and to remind everyone that love wins, no matter who you are.

And with all the fun, glitter, and rainbow spirit I've been witnessing in Romford, it’s clear that we're marching forward on that path with strength, determination, and a whole lot of love. It's been a phenomenal month of joy and community spirit. I feel incredibly proud to be part of this amazing movement, and I can’t wait to see what next year’s June Pride will bring!

So, keep the glitter flowing, the music pumping, and the tutus twirling! And remember, it's always #tututuesday #tutupride #RomfordPride ! ❤️🌈
