June Pride Month in a Pink Tutu in Walton upon Thames

Walton upon Thames: A Tutu-tastic Pride Celebration!

Hey gorgeous! Emma here, ready to unleash a whirlwind of glitter and joy from the heart of Walton upon Thames! You guys, June has officially become my favourite month – not just for the gorgeous sunshine (although that’s always a bonus), but because it’s Pride Month. 🌈 This year, I knew I had to celebrate in style, and let me tell you, a pink tutu was the only option!

Let’s be real – the sight of a tutu just radiates sheer joy, don't you think? But for me, this tutu holds a deeper significance – it represents inclusivity, self-expression, and above all, embracing your truest self. I've always loved tutus, ever since I was a little girl, pirouetting around my living room dreaming of becoming a ballerina (even if my actual ballet career fizzled out after a particularly embarrassing attempt at a pirouette in front of the whole school at the Christmas performance… sorry mum!). But you know what? That doesn't matter. Because a tutu doesn't care about your dance skills or past ballet blunders - it's a statement! A statement about celebrating yourself and embracing the diversity and joy around us.

This year's Pride Month was an explosion of colour and energy, starting right here in Walton upon Thames, with the Walton Pride event! Now, you might think that a tiny town like Walton might not have a vibrant Pride celebration, but you’d be wrong! The town centre was a sea of rainbows, with everyone rocking vibrant outfits, painted faces, and even their pets dressed up in Pride colours.

The atmosphere was electrifying. There were music performances, market stalls with incredible LGBTQ+ crafts and clothing, and food trucks serving every type of yummy snack you could dream of. You couldn’t move for smiling faces – everyone was there to support the LGBTQ+ community and to revel in the beautiful spirit of inclusivity.

I admit, I might have stood out a bit in my bright pink, feathery tutu. It wasn't your usual Pride outfit, I know! But you guys, let me tell you, the reaction I got was amazing! Everyone loved it! It brought smiles to everyone’s faces, started so many conversations, and turned my tutu into a mini Pride flag in the heart of the festival! It was my way of celebrating, spreading love, and adding a bit of sassy twirl to the festivities!

We all need a bit more joy and light in our lives, especially during challenging times. That's what Pride Month is all about. It's about raising awareness, fighting for equality, and showing the world that LGBTQ+ individuals deserve love, respect, and equal rights, just like everyone else!

But above all, it's a celebration! A celebration of diversity, a celebration of love, a celebration of being true to yourself. That’s why, for me, a pink tutu was the perfect way to encapsulate all those feelings. It's my own little symbol of defiance, of joy, and of embracing my inner ballerina. It’s my way of saying, “Hey, world! I’m here, I’m proud, and I’m going to twirl my way into your heart! You bet I’m going to dance with a little bit more glitter in my steps this month.”

The music pumping through the speakers, the rainbow flags waving in the wind, the excited laughter and the shared smiles – they all reminded me why Pride Month is so incredibly important. And I want to share that feeling with you guys!

So, here’s to Pride Month! Here’s to standing up for equality! Here’s to loving ourselves and loving each other! And of course, here’s to wearing a tutu whenever your heart desires, no matter where you are!

Now, go out there, twirl your way into the world, and let your inner tutu shine! 💖 🌈
