A Whirlwind of New Performances 🩰
Wickford's ballet companies are pulling out all the stops this spring! First up, we've got the Wickford Ballet Academy's enchanting production of "The Sleeping Beauty" on April 20th. Picture a beautiful princess, a mischievous fairy, and a handsome prince all woven together in a story that will have you captivated from the first waltz to the final flourish. Trust me, the costumes are absolute dreamboats, especially Aurora’s breathtaking pink gown… sigh!
Next, The Wickford Dance Ensemble are offering us a unique take on "Swan Lake" on May 12th. This performance promises to be both poignant and powerful, and I hear tell there might be a surprise costume element that nods to the beauty of spring… a hint of pastel petals, perhaps? 😉
And finally, prepare for the Wickford Youth Ballet's captivating rendition of "Giselle" on June 8th! This tale of love, loss, and redemption always brings a tear to my eye, especially the hauntingly beautiful pas de deux in Act Two. You can be sure that their dazzling tutus will add another layer of wonder to this unforgettable production!

The Wickford Ballet Academy has announced a beginner's ballet workshop focused on "The Sleeping Beauty" choreography, ideal for little dancers aged 5-8. It’s all about sparking those early creative flames! And if you're an experienced dancer looking to brush up on your techniques, look no further than the Wickford Dance Ensemble's "Classical Ballet Intensive" starting on May 15th. This workshop promises to deepen your understanding of the artform, refine your movement, and add a sprinkle of elegance to your ballet repertoire.

I've got my eye on the pastel tutu skirts with romantic lace trims - absolutely divine for channeling your inner ballerina in everyday life. Pair them with a soft white blouse and delicate jewellery for an elegant ensemble, or a playful oversized sweater for a cool and quirky touch!
But it’s not all about pastels! This season, I’m seeing a resurgence of bold tutus, with pops of neon pink and sapphire blue, and an abundance of feathers and sequins! It's the perfect way to add a touch of glam to your wardrobe.

Another thing that excites me about this season is the embrace of new materials! While traditional tulle will always be my heart’s delight, it’s exciting to see designers incorporating shimmering satin, delicate silk, and even unexpected elements like lace and fringe to add an extra touch of artistry to their creations.
And when it comes to the world of pointe shoes, there’s something so elegant and exquisite about those satin shoes with carefully-tied ribbons. Let’s not forget the iconic pointe shoes adorned with sparkly crystal stones, a must-have for every ballerina with a touch of bling! 💎
