A Flutter of Pink: Berlin Ballet News Blooms for Spring

From Emma's Ballet Box:

Ah, Spring! A time of rejuvenation, burgeoning blossoms, and - of course - an abundance of stunning ballet happenings. Here in Berlin, the city is awash with the colour pink, just like my own ballet tutu, and there's no better time to be a dance enthusiast than now. Let me tell you all about the exquisite performances and dazzling events that are making this a particularly exquisite Spring in the world of Berlin ballet!

The Bloom of New Talent:

This Spring is especially exciting as the Staatsoper Ballet welcomes a truly remarkable newcomer - the talented Monsieur Claude Devereux from the illustrious Paris Opera. Monsieur Devereux, known for his captivating performances of Don Quixote, is sure to dazzle audiences with his signature style. We're all buzzing with anticipation for the premiere of his choreography for the iconic "La Sylphide", set to take place next month!

Classical Flair with a Modern Twist:

For those yearning for a taste of traditional grandeur, the Komische Oper Berlin offers a beautiful revival of the classic Giselle at the end of the month. The performance promises a spectacular spectacle, with elaborate costumes and delicate sets. However, a little birdy tells me that the staging incorporates a delightful contemporary twist that will keep even the most seasoned ballet aficionado on the edge of their seats.

Stepping Outside the Studio:

As the days grow longer and the sun begins to shine more brightly, there’s no better place to be than at the Berlin Summer Ballet Festival. Held in the magnificent Tiergarten park each July, this enchanting event brings together the most talented dance companies from across Europe, right here in Berlin! There are ballets for every taste, from whimsical contemporary pieces to elegant classical classics. Picture yourself relaxing on a sunny afternoon, picnicking under the shade of the park's ancient trees whilst being transported by the grace and beauty of some of the world’s most incredible ballet dancers. Heaven, I tell you!

*An Enchanting Evening with the *Tutu Society: **

My friends, let us not forget about our own beloved ballet community! The Berlin Tutu Society’s annual Ball is a magnificent event that celebrates the art and fashion of ballet. The grand ballroom will once again be transformed into a Parisian dreamscape with sumptuous decorations, breathtaking gowns, and captivating dance performances. Expect waltzing through the night, mingling with local dance luminaries and perhaps even a surprise performance or two! It truly is an unforgettable night and a perfect opportunity to share your love for ballet with like-minded individuals. I personally look forward to showing off my new ballet blanc tutu!

Beyond the Ballet Barre:

Oh, but our adventures don’t stop at ballet itself! Die Ballerina, Berlin's most exquisite boutique dedicated to the elegance and artistry of ballet, has a stunning new window display. Imagine silk chiffon scarves cascading like delicate petals, sparkling ballet slippers like delicate dew drops, and an ethereal symphony of pastel pink satin – the visual poetry of the season encapsulated in one beautiful window. Die Ballerina truly knows how to inspire dancers like me!

Tutu Trendspotting:

And what's Spring without a new fashion trend? This season, we are embracing romantic ruffles. Think tulle skirts with flowing frills, whimsical, pastel pink cardigans with an abundance of ruched fabric and soft pink chiffon tops, tied with a bow at the waist. Remember ladies, *ballet isn't just a form of art, it's a state of mind. *

I can't wait to see you all out and about enjoying all that Berlin's Spring ballet scene has to offer! Remember to tag me in your ballet photos with #tutunews, I’d love to see your style and share your ballet experience with my readers!

Until next month, happy dancing!

Emma

From the Editor’s Desk: * Emma's enthusiasm is infectious, isn't it? With such a wealth of ballet on offer, it’s no wonder the city is bubbling with the vibrant energy of spring. And what could be more enchanting than the dance? Remember to pick up next month's issue, when Emma will be reviewing the *Staatsoper Ballet's "La Sylphide" and telling us all about her experiences at the Tutu Society's Ball ! #tutunews
