Nottingham's Tutu Tidings: A Springtime Dance!

By Miss Emma, Your Nottingham Ballet Correspondent

My darlings, what a divine spring we're having in Nottingham! The weather has been so delightful, even I've been caught out without my parasol. And what a wonderful time of year for ballet! The city is bursting with the scent of lilacs, and the promise of new performances floats on the air, lighter and as lovely as the first chicks of spring.

Now, I know what you're all thinking: 'Emma, dear, where does one find the finest tutu fashions to compliment the weather?' Oh, darling, fret not! I, as ever, have been keeping an eye on the city's dancewear shops.

The very latest sensation, whispered about by every discerning dancer in town, is the "Daffodil" Tutu at Miss Lily's Ballet Emporium. This little number is a delightful shade of sunshine yellow, a shade most becoming, and finished off with the cutest bow, in the very latest style of course. Made of silk so fine it tickles the nose, it comes with a little fluffy trim that looks oh so charming and brings to mind the fluffy lambs frolicking in the meadows this time of year.

Now, should you wish to add a touch of the romantic to your wardrobe, be sure to visit Madame Antoinette's Delicate Boutique. This shop is an absolute treasure trove of ballet accessories, all chosen with a discerning eye. Their new "Cherry Blossom" Hair Combs are perfect for your springtime looks. These beauties are made from pearlescent, pastel-coloured blossoms - I especially adore the pink, it compliments my colouring so well!

However, fashion is not all. We Nottingham ballet lovers are also eager to be enthralled by the upcoming season!

A truly delightful production is set to grace the stage of The Theatre Royal, a most magnificent venue, this very season! "The Awakening" is a ballet celebrating spring's arrival and all the glory it brings with it. The choreographer, the celebrated Mr. Charles, has been talking for weeks about his grand vision. He promises a performance that will leave audiences mesmerised - with his exquisite movement, delicate music, and costumes fit for a royal ball. It is said there will be even a breathtaking finale with the entire cast dancing in gowns of shimmering silver and emerald green - simply magical!

I must admit I'm quite excited to be in attendance. There is talk of a lovely garden party to follow the performance, and a delicious buffet spread has been rumoured. Indeed, I am sure I'll be writing all about it in next month's 'Tutu Tidings'.

Until next time, my darlings!

Emma
