It feels like only yesterday we were tiptoeing into the new decade, a decade which has seen an extraordinary metamorphosis in the sonic tapestry of ballet.
Let us dive in, darlings, with the delicate grace of a ballerina, and explore the captivating melodies, the dramatic crescendos, and the heart-wrenching whispers that have moved us, inspired us, and transported us into a realm where emotions take flight.
A Kaleidoscope of Compositional Brilliance
Oh, the symphony of sounds that have accompanied the ballet! It's a captivating panorama, an enthralling story spun across centuries, cultures, and creative voices.
This year has brought us a delightful surge of new compositions. Who could forget the stirring brilliance of "The Whispering Moon", a ballet inspired by the ancient legend of Chang'e? The score, crafted by the maestro himself, Felix Langston, takes us on a breathtaking journey, weaving Chinese musical influences with a distinctively modern aesthetic.

There’s a breath of fresh air blowing through the world of ballet music! It’s no longer a rigid framework of strict classical compositions, but a beautiful space for exploration, fusion, and experimentation.
We’ve seen the emergence of innovative, eclectic works by diverse voices. Remember "Street Ballet" - a pulsating symphony of urban rhythms that captured the raw energy of contemporary dance and fused it with elements of hip hop and jazz. A stunning example of the dance world shattering the mold.

The leotard was a breathtaking work of art. It mirrored the colors of a vintage pink tutu from "Swan Lake", that I recently had the absolute pleasure of seeing in an exhibition at the ballet archive museum. This leotard, crafted from delicate, diaphanous fabric, resembled a whisper of silk, infused with the grace and poise of a prima ballerina.
It was all the colors of a romantic ballet in one ensemble. Shades of blush and ballet pink were artfully mixed to create an enchanting glow. And for an added touch of sophistication, there was a subtle shimmer woven into the fabric, giving a subtle, delicate glimmer.
Just the perfect combination to perfectly echo the melodies and emotions that filled the theatres and captured our hearts this season! This year, a new chapter is being written, and the dance, it seems, will always evolve, and never lose its enchantment.

As we embark on the upcoming season, I am eager to see the new creative avenues that ballet will take, and what will be unveiled by the remarkable world of music. This upcoming season promises to bring exciting innovations and collaborations.
From collaborations with international ensembles to the unveiling of previously unheard scores, it promises a captivating exploration into the soul of dance and its timeless magic. We’re set to witness new narratives unfold through the transformative power of music and dance, captivating the world anew.
One particularly captivating project, the ballet adaptation of "The Odyssey", will see the famous director, Alexander Belinsky, reunite with the phenomenal composer, Enya Petrova. A breathtaking combination, guaranteed to take us on an enthralling voyage. I simply cannot wait!
And who can forget the collaboration of the century? The legendary cellist, Isabella Volkov, will be crafting original music for a one-of-a-kind, site-specific installation, titled "Dance of the Elements", a poignant reflection on humanity's delicate connection with the natural world.
I’m also looking forward to the new opera-ballet project, "The Nightingale", with an immersive and innovative score by the internationally acclaimed composer, Max Richter, and a narrative inspired by a fascinating myth, guaranteed to take our breath away.
