Tutu and Ballet News

Oh, darlings! Itā€™s the 11th August 2025 ā€“ what a splendid day to be alive, and for all things beautiful, all things dance, and all things graceful! Just look at what our dear world has to offer. The music that takes us to our feet, to our tips, the music that has the power to uplift the very soul.

How splendid it is, then, to take time to consider the extraordinary beauty of music written for ballet. Just imagine that melody dancing on the wind, the exquisite notes of Tchaikovsky weaving a spell, and Stravinsky conjuring up the mystical magic of a Russian fairytale! Oh, those graceful notes, a constant refrain of ethereal beauty and passion! I simply must explore it all!

Today we have some stunning, must-know ballet music to discuss. Prepare yourselves!

We begin with a glorious news story! The worldā€™s most loved ballet, the exquisite Swan Lake by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky is being brought back to life in a new and utterly spectacular production for the London Royal Ballet!

Imagine the spectacle: the opulent, almost impossible opulence of a set that replicates the grandeur of a Royal Ball! Just see, there it is! The sparkling grandeur of a grand ballroom filled with glistening chandeliers and swirling, luxurious figures in fabulous swirling gowns and, of course, that magnificent costume worn by the prima ballerina as the noble White Swan! It is truly magnificent, my darlings! Truly a wonder to behold!

And a wonderful treat it is to witness those famous Tchaikovsky melodies, so breathtakingly elegant, sweeping and lyrical, and at once dark and brooding. The musicality, that power it brings to the dancers, the energy it brings, the sense of beauty, of strength and artistry ...Oh! You just must be there, you simply must be part of this magical experience!

But wait there's more! Our London Royal Ballet company is now dancing to the stunning La Bayadere by Ludwig Minkus. Oh, to hear the power, the intensity of his melodies - you simply must witness it, you really must! The melodies weave a story so dramatic.

I was lucky enough to get tickets to this incredible production, it is, truly, beyond compare! The costumes are opulent - each one beautifully conceived and breathtakingly executed. Every one! My darlings, it's a must-see, you really should make sure you secure your tickets now. Tickets will go so fast!

The next piece of extraordinary news! A ballet-themed art exhibition entitled In The Footsteps Of Dance opens this month in Londonā€™s esteemed Royal Albert Hall, right here in our vibrant city, filled with paintings by famous and inspiring ballet artists - just a truly exquisite and inspirational selection. I hear that some very exclusive and rarely-seen designs, by well known and very, very successful artists from around the world are featured.

The exhibit also includes costumes, sketches, original drawings - so much that takes you behind the curtain! Imagine, oh, my darling - being able to examine a tutu up close - and see the incredible beauty, and the extraordinary work that goes into creating these costumes - what a joy and what an honour it must be to see the craft so close up. Imagine, the precision of the work! The embroidery, the colours, the silk, the craftsmanship of these incredible items. And those shoes! Just stunning.

Thereā€™s an entire section dedicated to the footwear, an homage to all those dancers and choreographers whose skills create the magic we adore on the stage. They call it ā€œIn The Steps Of The Greatsā€. Oh!

I'll be posting a series of updates to social media each week on all the latest, best art shows on the art scene! I just want to take a minute and marvel. Imagine the magic in store! How exciting is it to know we will soon see this amazing collection, oh, my darling, you simply have to go! Take your phone, take photos of those breathtaking creations - immortalise this special art exhibition! Capture the beauty that will bring such pleasure to everyone who steps through the doors! Iā€™ve got my camera charged! Are you?

And finally - a piece of very special news Indeed! The news that has swept through the ballet world, like an irresistible wind, taking us all with it on a whirlwind tour. Oh my, my darlings! The legendary designer Karl Lagerfeld will have a collection launched to coincide with this season's ballet schedule!

Lagerfeldā€™s famous ballet-inspired line, ā€˜The Magic of Danceā€™ will feature couture for dancers that blends his cutting edge, avant-garde design vision, with the glamour of classic dance. All designed to make dancers move with maximum style!

Oh my - isn't this absolutely incredible? He is so well-known, so well respected. And now he is entering this ballet world we know and adore so very, very much. The news, the sheer wonder of it all! We just have to wait for a taste of his brilliance! I just canā€™t wait!

It's not a complete coincidence, of course, that these new launches all coincide with an amazing exhibition of ballet music, a stunning show which features works of the very finest classical composers.
