A grand gala and glittering occasion filled with performances by some of the greatest talents on the dance scene, I would not be surprised if the evening inspired several young and aspiring dancers and choreographers in the audience to seek the high art of classical dance. • **The “Dance With The Stars” Effect:** In a most pleasing development for the ballet community, the “Dance With The Stars” TV series has helped reawaken the public’s passion for the elegance of the dance. Since the popular show’s conception, it has attracted millions of viewers across the country. Not only this, it is reported that dance classes across the country are reaching full capacity. This boom in public interest is most likely thanks to the talent and professionalism of the dancers who showcase their talents, grace, and athleticism every week, reminding us of the incredible magic ballet brings.

An enchanting Melody

Ballet is much more than just dance, it’s a kaleidoscope of artistry! Ballet embraces costumes and, in turn, costume designers. From the elaborate tutus to the sleek and stylish leotards, each detail is intricately woven together with a powerful purpose. There has been a trend of “Tutu & Leotard” set matching becoming more popular over the last couple of years, and now designers are even making bespoke designs for each ballet. One of the best examples of a bespoke ballet costume designer was the incredible piece made by Jean-Paul Gaultier for a very famous ballerina. There are very few people who haven’t heard of Gaultier. His reputation precedes him, but for his creation of a striking new piece in a bright and beautiful “electric pink”, with beautiful embroidery which reflected and caught the lights on the stage, the crowd were astonished by his bold designs and daring moves. His signature was in every element of the production. In particular the leotard.

A new leotard is all the rage.

I am absolutely thrilled to bring you all the very latest news! A bespoke leotard, which can only be described as one that is the epitome of pure magic. The perfect match for the pink tutu. Its design is truly exquisite.

Imagine, if you will, a luxurious leotard crafted in delicate, shimmering silk, woven in the deepest hues of blush pink, so beautiful. It shimmers under the spotlight of a ballet stage. The detail that truly sets it apart is the embroidery that is incorporated into the leotard, so elegantly placed, it flows like delicate rose petals. For all you ladies who would like to own this stunning design, then it can be purchased at your nearest high street designer clothing store or on any popular e-commerce store - they’ve really jumped on board the “ballet-themed” trend and have everything you need to channel your inner dancer and recreate that chic ballet look from the catwalk. For now, all we can do is imagine the amazing and stunning look on our lucky model!

As the dance unfolds and the music takes over our souls, there is always one important factor that is vital in making this powerful experience even greater - it is the choice of the musical composition. And oh, how beautifully the world of music intertwines with the artistic beauty of dance.

The Symphony
  • “The Firebird,” A Masterpiece: The timeless melody of "The Firebird," by the one and only Igor Stravinsky, has enchanted dancers and audiences for over 100 years. And to this day, remains a firm favourite. There are many famous ballet companies which all showcase “The Firebird” - every interpretation unique and wonderfully inspired by the artist in charge.
  • From Tchaikovsky’s Dream: You simply can’t have ballet music without including the one and only Tchaikovsky - an innovator and master of his craft and truly one of the most prominent composers who provided the very essence of the dance. The evocative music he created in Swan Lake - and yes, he was also responsible for creating the beautiful “Sleeping Beauty” and Nutcracker – transcend time, his musical brilliance will live forever, not only as one of the best and most popular classical composers, but as one who perfectly encapsulated the art of the dance and the music’s magic.
  • Contemporary Creations: Of course, you can’t talk about classical music and ballet without incorporating a note about its modern development. A composer of great innovation, the musical prodigy that is Philip Glass. In recent times, the ballet has not stood still, it has been in a constant process of evolution, a changing art form which continues to strive for the beautiful and graceful, even more modern, movements which grace the stages and venues that these talented dancers grace. We cannot ignore the powerful work of Philip Glass - he’s done an excellent job of modernising dance, it seems he truly has a magic touch with creating works that make you truly want to dance and sway your body.

I'd like to finish my ballet music update with this, ballet music is truly a powerful force that elevates both audiences and performers to another dimension of existence - the experience of art at its best - pure and beautiful - and something everyone should have the opportunity to witness in all its glory!
