This year’s ballet scene has a few “experiments” that have been met with mixed reactions.

Let me put this to you very clearly, darling: The art of ballet thrives on traditions, grace, and beauty. And that often gets diluted with misguided attempts to “re-interpret” artforms to “shock and awe”.

And you know what, I find the use of some unorthodox musical styles as the accompanying soundtrack to the choreography, rather jarring and often lacking the finesse and finesse of its classical heritage. For a ballerina who embodies grace, it’s rather off-putting, you see?
