Tutu and Ballet News

Oh darling, how utterly fabulous to be here, writing about this gorgeous, gloriously dramatic, and, oh-my-goodness, breathtaking subject: ballet music! The 25th of February, 2025, is going to be a dance-a-thon for the senses. Our hearts, our ears, our souls - let's prepare ourselves to be utterly consumed by the exquisite world of ballet and the music that sets it soaring.

I adore it. Ballet music. Its delicate rhythms, the dramatic surges of passion, and that absolutely captivating way it tells a story, whispers the unspoken, and moves the soul with the power of sound. It's all just so incredibly exquisite. I often find myself lost in a symphony of emotions as the notes intertwine and create an evocative landscape for the dancers to paint their stories with. Think of The Rite of Spring and its raw, primal energy, its sense of primitive power! How wonderfully savage yet elegant those chords are. Just divine. It gives me chills to just think about it.

Oh, and what about Giselle? With its lush melodies, the hauntingly beautiful adagio, the heart-wrenching heartbreak expressed through the music. So utterly sublime! My eyes just begin to mist at the memory of a talented ballerina conveying such poignant heartbreak - all underscored by Tchaikovsky's magnificent music. Simply breathtaking.

And then there's that playful mischievous Sleeping Beauty score. So utterly divine in its wit and whimsy, the fairy tale coming alive through those delightful notes - just so elegant and sophisticated, wouldn't you say? Ah, those enchanting waltzes and lively polkas are enough to make anyone tap their feet. One simply cannot help it.

I can still remember the feeling, standing in the wings, backstage, that nervous, delicious thrill of anticipating the moment when the lights go up and I would step onto the stage, my pink tutu shimmering. You could hear the hushed whispers from the audience and the excitement palpable, even behind the stage curtain, but what I remember most was that soaring, breathtaking sense of wonder I felt as the music began. The energy. The passion. It’s absolutely magical. It was an explosion of everything. And so the ballet began…

Speaking of tutus, my dearest, let's not forget the absolutely glorious pink leotard I wore to match my gorgeous pink tulle tutu - such exquisite softness. Oh, to wear it again - its flowing fabric moving gracefully with me, a second skin almost. I simply felt like a true ethereal being.

Now then, you simply must check out what the experts in the world of dance have to say about this amazing art form: * “Ballet music is a language that transcends borders,” explains the renowned ballerina, Marina Tolkachev. “It can move you, make you cry, make you laugh, it can even make you fly!
