Tutu and Ballet News

Oh darling, can you believe it's already October? The air is crisp, the leaves are beginning to turn, and that unmistakable scent of autumn hangs in the air, almost as tantalising as the latest collection of tulle and satin from my favourite Parisian boutique. Speaking of tulle, I simply had to share my latest obsession: **The Tutu**.

Now, I know what you're thinking, "Tutus? Aren't those just for little girls pirouetting in pink?" But oh, my dears, the world of ballet, especially these days, is brimming with unexpected and daring styles! We're no longer stuck with the traditional fluffy, billowing creations of the past. These are, well, shall we say, more *avant garde*. Take for example, the magnificent creations showcased at the Royal Ballet last night. A whirlwind of colour and form, they defied expectations in the most fabulous way. The delicate wisps of feathers that brushed the stage like the lightest of summer breezes, the sharp angles and dramatic folds that echoed the grand architectural lines of our city... each step, each movement was a tiny symphony of beauty.

Just last week, I found myself utterly captivated by the stunning work of emerging costume designer, Esme Finch. Her use of textures - silk chiffon layered with shimmering silk crepe de chine - was exquisite! And did you see how she incorporated the new, innovative holographic tulle? Simply breathtaking! You can practically see the constellations dancing within it, like the Milky Way captured in a net of celestial light.

It's not just the costumes, darlings. It's the whole ballet scene itself. From the soaring athleticism of a Bolshoi prima ballerina, to the captivating, storytelling precision of a smaller independent dance company, ballet today is an explosion of artistry and skill. It's so much more than just pretty girls twirling on their toes, darling, although, yes, a *stunning* *tour jete* never fails to capture my attention.

Don't just take my word for it. Come witness the magic yourself! Step into a ballet theatre, feel the velvet seats cradle you, the hushed anticipation of the audience... It's intoxicating! Allow yourself to be transported to a world of beauty, drama, and passion.

So go on, put on your finest party dress, darlings! Embrace the grace, the poise, the sheer brilliance that only ballet can provide! You won't regret it, I promise.

Speaking of which, this week, I'm particularly thrilled to be attending the London premiere of “Les Sylphides”, the enchanting work by the legendary Michel Fokine. The original costumes, darling, *the costumes*, created by legendary Parisian designer Bakst. It's a legendary collaboration that I am dying to see brought back to life on stage. Prepare to swoon!

Now, don't be a stick in the mud and stay away! The beauty of ballet isn’t just for *pas de deux* dancers, dear. It's an experience to be embraced by everyone.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to pick out the perfect outfit for the performance. One that truly embodies the spirit of dance and its intricate beauty. A touch of something classic but also modern. Think a fitted bodice, cascading silk layers with perhaps a hint of shimmer. And of course, darling, a hint of tulle! The dance, my dears, the dance, demands it.
