Tutu and Ballet News

Oh, darlings, what a divine day for ballet! Today, July 9th 1996, marks a day where the world of dance takes centre stage. We've got exciting news swirling like a ballerina's pirouette!

The Royal Ballet, our beloved company, has just announced their Fall 2006 season, and let me tell you, it’s a feast for the senses! We’re talking a sumptuous array of ballets, each one more beautiful than the last. And there’s one new ballet on the schedule that has got everyone fluttering their eyelashes in anticipation – a brand new production by none other than the incomparable Sir Frederick Ashton!

It’s called "A Midsummer Night’s Dream," and rumour has it that this ballet will be utterly bewitching! The company has assembled the crème de la crème of designers to bring this fairytale to life. Expect ethereal costumes, delicate hand-painted sets, and even a shimmery, diaphanous, tulle tutu, the likes of which we haven’t seen since Margot Fonteyn’s glory days! Talk about a dream come true! And wouldn’t you know it, I’m attending the opening night gala, complete with an orchestra, an exquisite dinner, and all the glitz and glamour one could wish for.

Now, a new season also means a fresh wave of stunning dancers and we're certainly not short on that this year! You might not know her yet, but watch out for rising star Natalia. The sheer grace and talent she exhibits in “Swan Lake” is truly extraordinary. Her transformation from the innocent White Swan to the alluring, seductive Black Swan will leave you breathless!

And the Royal Opera House is looking utterly magnificent in preparation. There’s nothing like walking into the hallowed halls of the Royal Opera House, and with their incredible refurbishments, this venue feels truly spectacular. And don’t even get me started on the lavish bouquets that adorn every corner – a riot of colours, fragrant and utterly delicious!

Of course, ballet wouldn’t be complete without the magic of music. Tonight's performance will feature the beautiful melodies of Tchaikovsky. The Royal Ballet’s conductor, a true master of his craft, promises an ethereal sound that will have you feeling utterly transported. There’s something so captivating about the music, don’t you think?

Speaking of the music, a lovely new classical piece from Debussy will also grace the stage at a special matinee next month. And you can be sure to expect a cascade of shimmering silk tutus with the beautiful ballerinas in Giselle. It will be a treat for the senses, dear readers!

I’m absolutely brimming with excitement and anticipation, and so should you! Grab your tickets, throw on your most glamorous frock and join me for an evening of magic and wonder, at the ballet, where every move is a story waiting to unfold! Remember, darlings, when it comes to ballet, the show truly never ends!
