Tutu and Ballet News

Darling, it's time for our weekly dose of all things tulle and tiaras. Oh, and a little bit of sweat, of course!

This week, the Royal Ballet's production of *Giselle* had all of London talking, with whispers of divine artistry filling the air, all thanks to darling Sylvie Guillem, simply exquisite as always, naturally. I mean, let's face it, this is the kind of performance that has everyone, from the socialites in their box seats to the most discerning critic in the press, uttering "Bravo!"

Speaking of tutus, it's simply scandalous how captivating a ballerina can be in a fluffy white tutu, and this *Giselle* production wasn't about to disappoint. Oh, the exquisite craftsmanship, the gentle swirling of the fabric as it danced in tandem with every delicate pirouette and graceful plié - just utterly breathtaking! I practically swooned during the mad scene, you know, as she danced with that haunted, almost crazed beauty? Pure magic! It almost made me wish I was back in ballet class, ready to twirl myself dizzy in the studio.

But alas, the real world called, and so I indulged my other love – fashion – with a pit stop at the ever-so-chic Alexander McQueen boutique before venturing into the night. It seems we're all obsessed with the sleek and elegant style McQueen evokes these days – his garments are pure poetry! I wouldn't be surprised if someone started designing ballet costumes inspired by McQueen – it would be divine! A touch of the dramatic, the avant-garde, a splash of dark and edgy – what more could one want? Now, let's see how McQueen would redesign a traditional tutu, eh? The possibilities are endless.

Another topic that has everyone abuzz is the opening of a new dance studio in Soho – an utterly charming haven, let me tell you. It's called "Danse et Chic", and I dare you not to fall head over heels for this stylish haven for dance enthusiasts! You have to see the studio space - all mirrors, whitewashed brick and exposed wooden floors, oh, it’s so chic and welcoming, I simply had to sign up for their beginners' class! Let’s face it, one cannot just *talk* about ballet, one must dance it. So, with this week’s news all accounted for, I bid you adieu, and remind you to always wear your fabulousness! See you next week, darling, until then, embrace your inner dancer!

And before I forget, here's a little tidbit for you to ponder:

  • The Royal Ballet is about to embark on a world tour with a new production of *Swan Lake*! My oh my, can you imagine, touring the world and dancing? I must say, this life is all too enticing.
