Tutu and Ballet News

Darling, did you see the *Vogue* cover last month? Those gorgeous feather boas, oh my! Reminds me of a little tidbit I saw the other day about a ballet. Oh, I *adore* ballet! The grace, the artistry, the breathtaking talent...but you know, even with all those high kicks and arabesques, I sometimes feel the real magic is in the **tutu**. Oh, how I love a good tutu!

Yesterday, 20th September, I was just *dipping* into my archives (after all, one has to keep up with the latest ballet gossip!), and what do I see? It was a gem about this extraordinary new company called the “Tutu Project” in, believe it or not, the slightly bohemian enclave of Brixton! Imagine, **tut**us on Brixton market. Imagine the looks, darling! The audacity of it!

The idea behind the Tutu Project, apparently, is this rather *delectable* concept of bringing classical ballet to less conventional venues, and the whole thing has got the ballet world *buzzing*! I mean, what do you do with ballet's pristine, delicate, slightly aristocratic image, the *whisper* of champagne and chandeliers in a street market with the scent of spices and fried onions in the air?

But that's what they’ve done! Apparently, they perform a kind of flash mob-style act, with dancers just popping up here and there. And their performance last Saturday? Well, it’s not a *whispered* anecdote, it's become a real hot topic, all about the fact they took their performance to the market's fruit and veg stalls!

My sources - and trust me, I have some rather *excellent* sources, including one rather well-connected ballerina - tell me that it was **quite** the performance. Picture this: A gorgeous tutu-clad ballerina performing graceful movements, an elegant extension in mid-air, while balancing precariously on top of a pile of watermelons. *Isn't that just exquisite?* Then there's the scene, where a charming male dancer, with his sleek black tights and **oh so* masculine physique** , balances his delicate port de bras while navigating around shoppers jostling to grab the last remaining courgettes! The audacity of it! You can imagine how it all turned out.

Apparently, some of the vendors were a tad *shocked*, wondering if it was some new performance art trend. Others, mostly women, seemed to just *admire* it. This is *not* a company shy of creating buzz!

They've caught the attention of, believe it or not, *Vogue* magazine. There was this *fantastic* photo in this month's edition - it was a beautiful dancer in a perfect white tutu. Imagine how stunning that would have looked against the vibrant backdrop of a market. You see? Ballet doesn’t have to be formal. They prove it can be an experience, daring and vibrant. A real celebration, not just of dance, but also of unexpected experiences.

I know I'm not alone in thinking this is exciting! What do you think, darling? Is this ballet’s moment? Will the Tutu Project become a London trend, taking *ballet* out of its usual confines?

You know, after the whole experience, even I’m now tempted to wear my trusty white tutu over my jeans while grocery shopping. It does sound like **quite** the trend-setting and rather glamorous move, *doesn't it?**
