Tutu and Ballet News

Dearest darlings! Well, it's a sweltering summer's day here in London, and, as usual, I'm absolutely dripping with sweat, because my tiny little tutu isn't exactly designed for the heatwave. However, don't get me wrong, the humidity simply adds a certain je ne sais quoi to the already intricate twirls and graceful arabesques, making each pirouette an exercise in both artistry and controlled dampness!

But enough about the weather, darlings, the real gossip is on the street! Let's talk tutus! They are absolutely everywhere right now. I mean, what's a girl to do? They're just so darn versatile. Who needs trousers? I can take my tiny little ballerina skirts from the ballet studio, straight to a brunch at the Ritz. That's right - *brunch*. The look? It's all about the unintentional juxtapositions: fluffy pink tutu meets delicate, porcelain skin and a crystal-encrusted necklace. It's about being as daring as the little girls from the ballet academy, while still maintaining the air of sophistication that says 'I know how to throw a champagne luncheon' even if I haven't actually tried to mix a cocktail in years. I just throw in the sparkling diamond and it magically becomes the essence of the Parisian cafe.

And, you know, the tutu can even be a great foundation for a day of antiquing or maybe some *light* shopping - you know, those spontaneous times where I find myself browsing antique silver trays with the price tags of, let's say, £350, and saying to the dealer, 'Oh, I just love silver!' But the whole thing - all the diamonds, the blush, the little tulle dream... it's just got to be accompanied by the perfect clutch. And, I must say, my current fave is one covered in *actual* *feathers* that I've had a bit of trouble getting past airport security. Oh well, nothing that a 'special' request can't fix. But just imagine how elegant it looks when I put my arm into the feathered sleeve! It's just the most delightful touch of playful extravagance to contrast with the *seriousness* of my shopping spree!

My darling girls, you may have seen tutus cropping up at the festivals, in magazines, on your favorite actresses - maybe even a princess or two. It's the new 'it' fashion statement - and that means, as always, the trend is rapidly changing, shifting from what was simply adorable to utterly ubiquitous in the blink of a pair of eyelashes. Oh, how things move so quickly! In just a couple of weeks it will be on the discount rack with all the old shoes and handbags with price tags reduced for a *sale*. So, you’ll need to be swift, darlings. Because this is fashion - and we know, it's just so **fast**.

But darling, it doesn’t end there. Today was **such** an important day for fashion. It was the day when one very influential and oh-so-famous actress **announced** to the world she was pregnant. This caused quite a stir, as everyone is, of course, extremely invested in these kinds of personal revelations. So it came as a complete surprise to no one that there was immediate speculation on all corners of the internet about how the expectant mother might dress, what colours she might wear. So the little, precious and extremely lucky baby has just become part of a brand new fashion statement for at least 9 months - a time that really is all about baby fashion. But what I really can't wait for is when the tiny little human arrives at the first ball - it might not be long until I see her in the sweetest, smallest, perfectly little ballerina skirt... oh, and, of course, the full-blown princess look is on the cards as well!

Speaking of ballet, you’ve all been watching, I'm sure, the new production that was, if I do say so myself, absolutely divine! What could possibly go wrong when you throw together an absolute fashion icon with a legend? What I found fascinating, actually, is that one of these icons actually said, quite directly, in the introduction, that this is all about what fashion means. This isn’t just about style. The meaning? To take a tutu and do something entirely new with it - not only on the runway but even the streets! My girls - just you wait, that one small comment is just the tip of a *very* fashionable iceberg.

Oh! But darling! We cannot forget those famous people who **completely** understood how fashion actually **works.** You know, the one with the amazing voice? Well, she was simply divine as ever - all in tulle and feathers! You know that feeling of seeing someone in one of their outfits and wondering, "Where on Earth can I get this?" The question remains - is this look just a very successful joke or actually on the cutting edge of some seriously fabulous fashion statement?

Now I know what you're thinking, dearie. The little skirt look. *Do you really wear a tutu everywhere?* Well, darling, let’s just say it all comes down to personal preference, shall we? Some of the most glamorous and fabulous people in the world actually **love** to add an extra dash of, you know... that special 'je ne sais quoi' that separates us all from the mundane - we, the fabulously fashion-conscious crowd. Now, let me tell you, this really is *so* very, very personal and if the whole tutu thing really isn’t for you, darling, don't stress over it, okay? But the trend itself isn’t actually a surprise, my dears. I always said: there's something uniquely glamorous about ballet and the art of its iconic ballerina dress. A real fairytale! But don’t think for a second that it’s a cheap look. You've got to *work* this. It needs to have some real magic to look *right*. There is simply *nothing* that you can wear that is going to make a more confident statement! Just like those really clever young women at those big ballet schools. All of that dedication and talent? A big chunk of it goes to fashion. And so they are **leading the trend.** I think we are witnessing the creation of a true fashion icon!

Don’t be put off by that awful hot weather, though! Get yourself a tiny, delightful skirt and go enjoy this moment, with an open heart!

And lastly, while we're at it... What is more iconic than an absolute icon being in a little ballerina skirt - but in the actual **theatre** for one of the world's **greatest** choreographers! We are, in fact, about to see this. Well, not yet! She will take the stage in all its glory, all the twirling and the magic of the stage in a perfectly pink tutu - she *has* to, don’t you agree? And she will look every bit as fabulous as she should in this new, *very* theatrical interpretation of ballet and a certain fabulous and fabulous-ly glamorous little pink skirt that we're all in **love** with! Let's face it - she’s been the perfect example of the *most* fashionable dancer we’ve ever seen and she **knows** how to show us what the art is really about, doesn’t she? The combination is really something, my darlings!

The stage is set for an explosive few weeks! Now, off I go - I'm getting dressed - the show must go on!
