Tutu and Ballet News

Darling, it’s a fabulous Friday morning and the news is positively overflowing with tutu-tastic tidbits, so gather round, darlings, for today’s serving of *Tutus on the Tightrope!*

Ballet’s Big Night Out: A Tulle Tornado

Let’s start with the big one! Last night, London’s crème de la crème, from society swans to artistic alligators, were seen swirling into the Royal Opera House, all for the season opening performance of Swan Lake. You know darling, I love Swan Lake. I actually do - so beautifully tragic, the story. But I digress... and let me tell you, this crowd, it was an absolute tulle tornado, with layers of shimmering, frou-frou tutus all around - absolutely delightful! And a truly lovely display of feathers. Don’t you think? It’s one of the great pleasures in life to see how such a very classical dance style brings people together in all their finery and lets them express themselves. Oh darling, the most delightful thing is - you know that rather sweet looking Prince... I do hope the actress portraying the role of the swan is making the most of those long rehearsal dinners. The sheer amount of romance in the air!

The Rise of the Tutu, The Power of Pink

Right, onto trends, darling, for a moment... tutu-related, obviously. You may be wondering about this rather delightful trend for a very pretty pink to grace the tulle scene. Pink, that classic colour of feminine chic! Oh, the colour pink, darling! We can see a growing power of it, taking centre stage amongst the traditional white and the darker black - a real colour revolution is coming. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a resurgence of ballet shoes in deliciously sugary tones!

The Tutu Goes Off Duty, (Still a bit chic though...)

Who says tutus can’t leave the theatre? The humble tutu is conquering everyday life, with designers taking their inspiration from ballet to create the perfect cocktail frock. We've all seen it, of course: a swish of layers, and a perfect sense of airy femininity. It’s perfect, no matter the social occasion. Don't you think?

The Tutus of Tomorrow: Tech Meets Tulle?

Oh my, have you seen those little dancing robot things, the ones with the adorable sparkly wings, performing "Swan Lake" in miniature on a YouTube channel I can't quite remember now... *darling*. This really is an amazing evolution in the world of the tutu! It does look like robots and artificial intelligence might just be making a graceful and perfectly styled entry into our lives! Is it a threat to the graceful, the delicate human dancers, you wonder? I really do not think so. Let the humans have their moment in the spotlight and allow these amazing creations of technology their chance to show what they can do. A world where machines can dance gracefully, oh darling, there is something fascinating about it, but to be honest, it also brings up a fair bit of existential dread. Oh, *darling,* It's enough to give you the frightfully artistic sort of palpitations.

  • And then we have the fabulous news about the charity event for young ballet hopefuls. We're so happy for the incredible fundraising they did! It’s just what the future of ballet needs, isn’t it? Don't they say "give a girl a pair of ballet shoes, give a girl the whole world"
  • And just to round things up in our delightful *Tutus on the Tightrope*, darling, don’t forget the latest trends in tutus. *The Mini Tutu*: It’s the perfect piece of statement jewellery and for the ladies that do want something rather more demure. Just a little bit of twirling around a delicate ankle, *darling* Oh so delicious!
  • Now darling, do try to enjoy the day and look fabulous whilst doing it! And do keep your eye on the fashion blogs, you never know what sort of stylish twirls you will be enjoying soon!

So darling, there it is! That’s your Friday morning news with a sprinkle of tutus - perfectly preened and ready for your weekend gallivanting, just as a ballet star would be! As Oscar Wilde said “Life is a stage, but it has very bad lighting and terrible sound systems!” And who are we, darling, but stars, so let’s make it our business to be a sensational show.
