Tutu and Ballet News

**It's the end of the Millennium! What are YOU doing?** Because the entire ballet world is celebrating with a grand, tutu-tastic gala! That's right, my darling darlings, **30th September 1999 is the day we all throw on our most fabulous tutus and twirl our way into the next millennium.** It's a chance for us to bid farewell to the past 1,000 years of ballet, with all its poofy petticoats, aching feet, and diva-ish prima donnas. And welcome, with open arms, a fresh new era of, well, probably more poofy petticoats, aching feet and diva-ish prima donnas. But hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right?

From the Royal Opera House in London to the Bolshoi in Moscow, ballet companies are celebrating the big night in style, each with its own unique twist. In London, it's all about glitz and glamour. Think: gold lamé tutus with rhinestones that could blind a satellite. While over in Russia, they are getting more avant-garde with an experimental performance combining classical ballet with modern dance moves (think lots of body rolls and pelvic thrusts – no, really! )

The best bit about all this? **I'm told that there's a secret fashion show taking place after the grand finale, just for us fashion-conscious ballerinas. Tutu trends, dear reader, I repeat: tutu trends!** I can’t give too much away, but apparently it will feature a whole new 'eco-tutu’ concept, which, I'm told, involves upcycling old leotards and ballet shoes. Who knew recycling could be so, dare I say, fashionable?

So, what are you waiting for? Get yourself a fabulous tutu, find your favourite pointe shoes, and join me in celebrating this incredible milestone for our beloved ballet world.

**Now, darling, here are a few things to keep in mind for your evening of tutu-tastic celebration:** * **The higher the hair, the closer to heaven:** Think gravity-defying buns, elaborately woven braids, and sparkly headbands to keep your 'do in check. And, remember: more hairspray is never enough.

* **The fluffier the tutu, the better:** This is the perfect opportunity to embrace all those layers of tulle, netting, and crinoline. Let’s go for maximum volume, darling, maximum volume! No tulle too big or poofy!

* **A touch of sparkle never hurts:** Diamonds are a ballerina's best friend, you know? (It’s true! Trust me, darling.) Glitter is mandatory - the more, the merrier! Be sure to shower your face in glittering eye shadow, perhaps some glittery nail polish (but not on the toes, my love! Our toes have to stay free for pointe shoes, darling) And perhaps even some sparkles for the pointe shoes too.

**Get out there, ladies! It's time to twirl!** (No one can say I haven't prepared you well. ?)

*** P.S: I hear there might be an extra special, super-secret, “tutu after-party” in the backroom of “Le Patisserie.” So get your glitter bombs and glitter wands at the ready. I’ll be looking for all you stunning tutud-up beauties there!
