Tutu and Ballet News

Darlings! You simply *must* hear about the outrageous goings-on at the Royal Opera House last night! It was the premiere of Swan Lake, and, *quelle horreur*, it was *all* about the tutus.

Now, I know what you're thinking: *tutur, tutur, we've heard it all before!* But trust me, dears, this was something special. We're talking a veritable fashion extravaganza. It all began during the white swan scene, when, in a *shocking* twist, prima ballerina Penelope Plumtree (yes, the one who has been spotted on numerous occasions sporting an exquisite selection of Christian Louboutin heels with her tutu in the street! #stylequeen) appeared...in a *black* tutu. *Black, darlings!* It was scandalously chic. It was like a glamorous, shimmering panther amongst those angelic, snowy birds. And I don't even think they used any feather boa this time!

The audience was in *absolute* shock. Whispers could be heard all over the house: *"Did she just...?"* *"I can't believe it, it's magnificent!"* It was quite simply the *talk* of the evening.

But Penelope didn't stop there! As if that wasn't bold enough, for the *Black Swan* scene, she took to the stage in a *sequinned, glittering, shimmering purple* tutu! A complete departure from the classic dark red! We were all expecting the traditional, you know, *racy, scandalous* black swan. *And it was even more shocking! * Even the swans, the ballet dancers in the chorus, were speechless - at least until they saw the designer. They absolutely *loved* her choice of material - so much sparkle, darling!

I could go on, but *you must just imagine it, dears!** It was a spectacle for the ages. Of course, the choreography was top-notch, with a *completely modern take* on Tchaikovsky, *of course*. It just shows that even with ballet, there is always room for experimentation, for a little daring fashion. You simply have to be prepared to *go there, darlings*, and take it all in. And who better than the stylish and confident Penelope Plumtree to lead the way?

Speaking of tutus, my dearest friend Henrietta, she’s *mad* for tutus! The woman's got more tutus in her wardrobe than there are sequins in the entire universe. You see, Henrietta thinks that there is a perfect tutu for every occasion. For an intimate lunch, a blush pink satin tutu, for example. Going to Ascot? The must-have tutu is navy, with little matching fascinators for each member of the party. It is *quite absurd* in reality, but Henrietta takes it very seriously. You must just know this when you see her, you can just see those little fairies whispering *'more, more'* in her ears.

Now I’m thinking: perhaps Penelope and Henrietta would make the best team *ever* to start a line of evening wear that combines tutu shapes and patterns and materials for every occasion. Oh my dear, I do so hope that the Royal Ballet is hiring a good choreographer for their *upcoming Spring season*. My eyes *demand* some extra sparkles, do you know! **What is the first *chic* occasion we all need a tutu for, darlings?**

Speaking of "tutu" ... that's right! Did you hear about the tutu incident? Well, my dear, we must speak of it! It seems *one* dancer at a provincial dance school thought the show was a tad too traditional *for her*. We don't *know* if it was *unrequited love* or just sheer jealousy, but that's what led her to throw the **actual tutu** used by the lead in *their production* of Swan Lake into a cauldron in the *back stage kitchen! * She said the cauldron was on for 'a cup of tea', dear, but it *certainly wasn’t!* It was boiling. Anyway, she thought it would be very "feminine and artistic" to burn it! This dancer's name is Penelope Plumtree! And *let's just say* her time in dance is now well and truly *over*. I saw *the other* Penelope Plumtree perform after *that* *show stopper*, it was divine, darling! **Simply the best**!*

All in all, dear, the night at the ballet was absolutely spectacular. It reminded us once again that there is always something exciting to discover in the world of dance. So *put on your dancing shoes,* grab your ballet slipper clutch (yes, it *is* a thing), and *get ready* to see what happens next. I wouldn't miss it for the world. Until next time, stay chic and dance the night away!
