Tutu and Ballet News

Dearest darlings,

Oh, what a day for dance! I’ve been practically twirling through my flat all day (sans tutu, of course) because guess what? It's the 7th of August, 2000! You might be thinking, “Oh darling, that's all very well, but what's so special about August 7th?," to which I’d simply reply “Why, darling, it’s National Tutu Day!

Oh yes, my loves! I couldn’t let this most glorious occasion pass without giving a proper nod to the most important piece of ballet attire since, well, since the leotard! You can’t have a graceful swan or a majestic prince without a grand tutu, darlings, and today we're celebrating these frothy, magnificent wonders in all their glory!

For a moment, let's picture a ballet dancer. Yes, there’s the grace, the strength, the elegance, the precise moves and the exquisite expression… But we're forgetting the **essential piece of the puzzle**: the tutu! The pièce de résistance!

Why? Well, my darlings, let's delve into a bit of history. The first tutus, or rather their less glamorous ancestor – a skirt of sorts - came around the mid 1800s, a far cry from the romantic and beautiful garments we see today! But oh, darling, it has come a long way. They are a celebration of feminine movement, light, airiness and freedom. I dare you not to swoon when a dancer leaps through the air, a cloud of tulle rippling around her!

There are tutus for all occasions, darlings. Want a classically stunning Swan Lake effect? There's the *Romantic Tutu*. Fancy a shorter, slightly less voluminous, but still charming, version? *The "petit" tutu*, is ready to take the stage. Of course, my darling, who could forget the legendary **“*The tutu with the detachable train"*!** Imagine, all that graceful swishing while dancing, the *whimsy*, the utter **opulence!**

But alas, a tutu can’t do the hard work alone! We’ve got a team here! There's the pointe shoes, the leotards ( oh, that colour, my darlings), the ribbons, and of course, the **glitter and sparkles!**

Let's not forget those delightful little *ballerina figurines*. Adorable little wisps of fluff! Their tiny tutus! Oh my heart! Don't even get me started on those beautiful ballet outfits, the ballerina figurines' tulle. It's like a tiny dance world miniature.

On this most special of days, we’ll be reminiscing about our absolute favourites. I know that Marie’s beautiful tutu, that we made from recycled ballet clothes, was absolutely delightful, don't you agree, dears? Of course, what’s the joy of National Tutu Day, if you’re not remembering the little ones! Remember the giggles as we put the tiny tutus on those cute, dancing-loving babies? The thrill when a little one donned a new, frilly, tutu for their first performance. Just priceless, dears!

I would say that these delightful pieces of sartorial genius deserve a little more than one day a year! Just imagine the glorious sight if all us fashionistas embraced National Tutu Day as our new day of sartorial expression, an all out "tutu day out."

Imagine, dears:

  • Tutus for shopping
  • Tutus on the train
  • Tutus in the office (why not? It is national Tutu day after all )
  • Tutu for dinner

We would certainly give a graceful new look to every day life and create an air of beautiful and elegant fun, as we swish and swirl along, in tutu attire, my loves!

So let's all go out there and dance to the beat of National Tutu Day! Don’t forget to post a photo or video of you wearing your favorite tutu on your socials. Remember #NationalTutuDay

And, oh my loves, what would this lovely news post be, without an ode to the wonderful tutus.

Oh, tutus! What are we without you, my darlings? What a marvel! We give a special bow to your elegance and frothy glamour. Your glorious volume! Your majestic beauty, your incredible dance potential and the *absolute joy* of putting one on. Here's to many more days of elegant twirling!

Happy Tutu Day everyone!
