Tutu and Ballet News

Oh darlings, can you believe it? The Queen of Tutus herself, the inimitable Margot Fonteyn, would have been 89 today, 19th September, 2000, can you believe? It seems like yesterday, doesn't it? Her delicate, swan-like movements on the stage... I do remember, oh my goodness, one time when she came to see our troupe rehearse, it was a mere glimpse, a flit of perfection and then, poof! Gone! We were just so... speechless, we hadn't even caught a good look at her shoes! Such a graceful creature! And speaking of creatures, darlings, are you ready for a big fashion news story?

It’s *tutu* time. Remember tutus? Those oh-so-frilly things ballerinas have been prancing about in for centuries? Oh my! They are SO back, darlings, in the *biggest way*. We’re talking tutus with a sassy attitude, not just *boring old pink*, not for these little darlings. Think hot pink, metallic gold, dazzling fuchsia. Even a splash of orange or jade... you know, those bright colours you wear at Ascot and all the smart galas? And the best bit? The more layers, the better! They’re layering the frills for a big, beautiful and yes, **fluffy** effect. Now, don’t go mistaking this for a return of the *pouffy, marshmallow-esque tutus* of the eighties. Oh darling, these are svelte and stylish, and frankly they're what the doctor ordered after all the minimalist drabness of the nineties, they're positively fabulous,

The tutu is the perfect embodiment of the *femme fatale*, a bit of a contradiction darling: *gentle and elegant, yes, but also quite naughty and dangerous*, in those delicious layers! And think of the *movement*, they ripple and dance with each turn and prance... imagine twirling at a *party*, or sashaying in *a glamorous club* ... and just watch those beautiful frills do their thing. The only problem? You have to be careful at the pub, you don't want to catch the tutus on a *lager top*. Oh darling, *imagine the faux pas*, it would be a complete *fashion disaster*!

Speaking of tutus, this trend started on the runway. But there’s no need to pay top dollar for your very own little ballet masterpiece. High street retailers are now embracing the tutu... even some of them have taken a cue from the eighties! Oh my darling, what *fun*! The fabulous Victoria Beckham even donned a fabulous (and yes, it *is* a tutu), but not on the dance floor, just in a fashion magazine photoshoot... now if that's not a sign of the times, darling, then I don't know what is, I *dare* you to rock a tutu to your next glamorous gathering. Who knows, it might just spark a conversation about the beautiful ballet and its captivating grace, if only for a few minutes.

But please remember, tutus don’t wear themselves, darlings, we *do*. Be confident, be elegant and just don't wear it when you’re having a *wobbly* day or after a cheeky cocktail... I'm sure you’ll look utterly *fabulous*,

Now darling, have a look at these absolutely fabulous ways to rock your tutu for a glamorous night:
  • Glam Party Tutu: A beautiful pink, tulle tutu paired with a chic black silk top. Some sparkly heels and a glamorous red lipstick for that *sexy-but-innocent* look.
  • Bohemian Ballerina Tutu: Pair a longer tulle tutu in a muted pink or grey with a soft cashmere sweater. You can make the look more feminine with some soft sandals or bohemian boots, darlings!
  • Evening Chic Tutu: If you have a ball coming up, be brave, my dears. Layer a shorter tulle tutu over a fitted slip dress in velvet or silk, perhaps even try a jewel-tone velvet jacket and a bold ruby red lip and be bold. You will make *every head* turn in the room... guaranteed.

There you have it darlings, your Tutu Guide for Fashionable Fun and if you have *any doubts* at all, please give me a call, darling, and I'll guide you. You know I can help with fashion, darling. So now, darling, if you excuse me, I have a little *fashion dance* practice. Don’t worry, I'm not wearing a tutu... oh, my goodness! Just the prettiest new silk frock and my Jimmy Choo’s, so *divine*. I’ll *see* you next time, for the next *big fashion* story! Bye!
