Tutu and Ballet News

Darling, what a day! 26th January, 2001. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and the world is a beautiful, tutu-fied place. I'm talking, of course, about the most fabulous news story of the year - the *International Tutu Day*, that's right, an entire day dedicated to our beloved little (and let's be honest, sometimes very big) ballet staple!

Apparently, a group of international fashion icons - I can't tell you who, you'd never believe me! - got together and decided that tutus are no longer the exclusive domain of ballerinas. And, darling, you know what, they're absolutely right! A tutu is a statement. It says, 'I am elegant, I am daring, I am a bit ridiculous but, darling, in the best way possible!' And it’s perfect for *everything*, from a garden party to a high tea to a casual stroll down the high street. You just can't go wrong, darling!

Here's the fabulous bit - the world's most fashionable (and, of course, chicest) brands have thrown their fabulous selves behind this magnificent initiative. There’s a Chanel tutu made entirely from sequins (I died!), a Louis Vuitton tutu designed in an incredibly beautiful floral print, and even a Vivienne Westwood tutu complete with her signature anarchic style, that's one you just wouldn’t want to miss!

But wait, there’s more, darling! You might think the fun stops at the fashion houses. You'd be wrong! Everywhere you turn - from London to New York, and even Paris (who knew?!) - shops, restaurants, cafes, bakeries are celebrating. They are serving tutu-shaped cupcakes, offering special "tutu-rific" deals, even launching themed window displays that just scream fabulous. Let me tell you, the London scene is on fire - think of every chic establishment with the most divine ballerina themed cakes, it's all the rage, darling!

What about the general public, I hear you say? Don’t even get me started! I was at a fabulous luncheon with the lovely Fiona, and you wouldn't believe the conversation. It's like tutus have completely taken over! Everyone was swapping stories about their favourite tutu looks and giving advice on the perfect outfit, it was completely exhilarating. Even the poor, dear Vicar, darling, I almost died, was caught wearing a tutu at the charity gala - he did have a perfectly fabulous sense of humour about the whole thing though, which is important!

Now, it wouldn’t be a proper tutu day celebration without some practical advice, darling! So let's start with a fabulous guide for making International Tutu Day a day to remember, shall we?

**Firstly, choose your tutu with care.** This is not the time for any old "I saw it on sale at Primark" look, darling! Go for something that makes a statement. Do you want classic white? Dramatic black? Something sparkly, daring, fun, or perhaps you’re feeling extravagant? Let's not forget about colour! Bold red, beautiful blush, divine emerald - the choice is yours!

**Second, the outfit.** The perfect ensemble should complement your tutu. I always say - 'Never fear to add a touch of daring and eccentricity'! Whether it's a sharp black dress, an eye-catching bold top, a simple white shirt, a stunning blouse, you can't go wrong as long as it embraces the dramatic essence of your chosen tutu.

**Lastly, don't forget the finishing touches, darling.** This is what will truly elevate your outfit to the highest level. Think sparkly heels, fabulous statement earrings, a striking lipstick, a touch of glitter – you're ready to sashay your way into the day! And let's not forget the hair, darling! Think fabulous buns, braids or even just a sleek ponytail.

Remember, darling, it's about embracing the fun and letting loose. Embrace your inner ballerina. Wear it with pride and own that day! Let the world know: you are fabulous, you are stylish, and you know how to have fun. So, embrace this exciting new era, put on your most fabulous tutu, and dance your heart out.

P.S. If you spot me strutting my stuff in my very own fabulous tutu, say hello darling! Don't worry I’m prepared with the perfect selfie moment, ready to share with my fab followers!
