Tutu and Ballet News

Darling, have you heard the news? This week has been all about the iconic tutus! Not the itchy, scratchy, embarrassing kind our mums used to make us wear for the school play. Oh, no, darlings, this is a whole new world of tutus – think Haute Couture meets swan lake! It’s all happening at the Paris Fashion Week where the legendary Chanel is leading the charge, taking tutu inspired frocks to an entirely new level of fabulous! And yes, darling, these aren’t the frumpy ones our Grannies wore! These tutus are bold, sexy, and daring and, as always, utterly chic!

I can just see them now. A symphony of tulle, cascading like a delicate cloud, hugging the curves of the world’s most glamorous ladies. The most decadent feather boas and exquisite hand-crafted detail make them nothing short of works of art. I hear whispered tales of a specially designed "Tutu Train", so long it practically demands its own personal bodyguard. And, of course, there's a pair of show-stopping diamond-encrusted tiaras to really make it all happen!

Don't get me wrong, darling, ballet itself has always been utterly enchanting. But let’s face it, ballet dancers, with all the dedication and years of rigorous training, have always looked slightly tragic – not to mention that the dancers themselves must spend a fortune on the upkeep of their footwear. Well, not any more. The latest trend is to wear fabulous high heels in stunning bright colours on a plain white, billowing skirt – just the skirt though - nothing else, it’s all about the shape and the way the fabric catches the light – a daring fashion statement for the everyday, or so they say!

And I must confess to a secret guilty pleasure – I’m absolutely smitten with the new “Tutu Trainer”. It's like the personal training equivalent of going for a morning ballet class – minus the agony! A small band of professional trainers (who all seem to be very attractive men, coincidentally) are offering up these classes to help women everywhere to not only be super stylish and glamorous – which, naturally we all want to be – but also give us all toned thighs like dancers in no time. Imagine yourself strutting down the street in your stunning tulle and sky high heels – I simply must have one of these, I think they also have classes on how to stand correctly, and – ahem – how to perfect the elegant “swan neck”, apparently.

The great news is that we don't have to be in Paris or even anywhere near a ballet school to join in. The new high street chain Tutu and Tiara – darling, it couldn’t be more chic - has the entire collection at an utterly affordable price, or so they say. The only catch, you’ll need to do all of the swan neck training yourself.

Darling, do hurry – as we know the most desirable items never stay in stock for long. Just look at all those fabulous women from the last fashion week sporting these exquisite tutu creations - who knew “dance wear” could look so fashionable? I wonder how much a tiara goes for these days.

Now excuse me darling, I need to visit Tutu and Tiara myself. Just look at that beautiful window display in the new department store in Piccadilly, with the large silver heart design and an enormous black feather boa draped right over it - I can almost see my credit card swiping now! It is simply stunning – just picture all the compliments you will receive!
