Tutu and Ballet News

Oh, darlings, what a day it was! Today, 27th March, 2002, was simply a *whirlwind* of tutus and twirls! My dear friend, the divine Daphne, dragged me to the opening night of "The Nutcracker" at the Royal Opera House, and let me tell you, it was *fabulous*. I mean, who could resist a good dose of sugar plum fairies and dashing nutcrackers?

Now, I know what you're thinking - ballet, *really*?! But honey, *believe me*, you haven't experienced true joy until you've seen a ballerina gracefully leaping across the stage in a tulle confection that could rival a fluffy cloud. And, the tutus, my dears, the TUTUS! Oh, they were just divine! The grand ballerina, Esmeralda, had on a particularly *show-stopping* tutu, made entirely of silver sequins that sparkled like a thousand tiny diamonds. Seriously, it was *everything*! I mean, she looked like she'd just stepped out of a fairytale!

Now, I won't lie, I nearly lost my dainty shoe with laughter at one point. This young lad, the poor chap, playing the Mouse King - *dear* - tripped over his own feet, practically landed *in* the Sugar Plum Fairy's tutu. Talk about an impromptu tutu party! I'm sure it wasn't intentional, darlings, but I *almost* choked on my petit four from the sheer comical absurdity of it all!

After the performance, we joined Daphne's husband, Cecil, for a delicious dinner at the Savoy. Naturally, I insisted we raise a glass to the *exquisite* tutus that graced the stage tonight. A little bubbly to toast tulle, if you will! Of course, darling Cecil being the sensible sort, he politely declined, muttering something about “responsibilities,” which is so typically him! I mean, a bit of harmless fun wouldn't hurt him, wouldn't it?

As for me, I am just *beaming* after the experience. Seeing those graceful dancers twirl with such passion and poise - well, it just fills me with joy. The whole thing has given me a renewed appreciation for the magic and beauty of ballet. Even the disastrous stumble of the Mouse King only added to the charming night. Honestly, I'm starting to think that the tutus and the ballet are a little *contagious*… perhaps I should take up some lessons, no? My social media feed *needs* some fabulous tutus and artistic poses, wouldn't you agree?
