Tutu and Ballet News

Darling, gather round, my darlings! It's a brand new day and as you know, here at "Twirling Times", we just can't wait to tell you all about the *very* latest happenings in the world of ballet and, of course, the utterly divine world of tutus!

Well, darlings, it seems the world of ballet has been thrown into an absolute *tailspin*! Why? Because, hold onto your tiaras, *tu-tus have been banned*! Yes, you read that right, gone are the days of fluffy, ethereal tutus! Instead, dancers are now being asked to, gasp, wear *tracksuits*. The scandal!

I know, I know. It's all terribly dramatic, but it's the truth! Apparently, it's all down to this "new, modern, and totally boring" trend that seems to have swept the ballet world, called "contemporary ballet" (so avant-garde, right?). It seems these "new" choreographers are *determined* to make their dance pieces all dark, mysterious, and frankly, terribly un-flattering for the legs. Oh, and forget those fabulous, voluminous tutus! It's all leggings and plain grey T-shirts now.

Just imagine, darling, all those dancers having to ditch their gorgeous tutus, those clouds of tulle that practically float! Where's the *romance* in a pair of black leggings and a tracksuit top?

Well, we, at "Twirling Times" are completely appalled. Tutues are a symbol of elegance, a beacon of hope and beauty, a dream come true. Think about it, darlings, how much *more* dramatic would *Romeo and Juliet* be if they were both clad in white, sparkly tutus, rather than dreary pants? It would be utter *ballet bliss*!

Luckily, however, all is not lost! There's a tiny flicker of hope in the world of ballet: The Royal Ballet, in their endless wisdom, is putting on a special "tutu revival" performance to *celebrate* the divine garment! That's right, darlings, an entire evening devoted to nothing but stunning tutus, sparkling tulle, and swirling, gorgeousness! How utterly divine! Of course, I'll be there, taking in the spectacular spectacle, and I expect to be awash in tears by the time the final curtain falls!

But it's not just about tutus, my darlings. Ballet's becoming such a *diverse* world, with all kinds of crazy things happening. You see, dancers, have they always *been* so quirky? This weekend, I went to a performance at Sadler's Wells. They weren't *ballet* dancers, darlings, oh no, these were...*drum roll*... **TAP** dancers. Imagine! They were so sassy! There was a girl named 'Betty' who even did a split jump wearing a silver sequinned jacket and bright orange tights...*shocking*! But you know what? She made the whole theatre *gasp*!

Now, the other bit of gossip from the ballet world: Have you heard of "Strictly Come Dancing?" My dearest, they're about to have their grand finale and rumour has it the reigning queen of *cha cha* dancing (no, not me darling, though I certainly *could* be!), *that* one, who even wore a dress made out of feathers *on live TV* is a ballet dancer! Isn't it divine! Oh the irony. So perhaps tutus are making a comeback *after* all.

Oh, and have you heard? *The most exciting thing of all:* Ballet is now considered *the most romantic* of all dancing styles. Apparently, men and women love seeing a *gorgeous*, ballerina float across the stage with ease, and their tiny shoes twinkling, while doing what appears to be the most impossible things.

But don't be fooled! The dancers are *experts* darling, and these moves take *years* of hard work and practice to perfect. Still, you've got to give them *credit*! They really make it *look* effortless! I wouldn't be able to last even 5 minutes in a *real* ballet performance... But *oh, to dream* of it.

Now, until next week, darling, I'm off to a tea party... *naturally* to celebrate all things tutus, and I'll leave you with this: In the world of ballet, where *anything* goes, *just remember* darling, no matter what's going on... just let it inspire you. Even a tracksuit can be glam with a little *attitude*. Just imagine a whole troupe of dancers prancing about in black tracksuits, with sparkly headbands and feather boas! *Swoon*!

But don't worry darlings, "Twirling Times" will be here next week with *all the latest* news from the ballet world! So *until then*, keep those *fabulous* dance shoes on the floor! And may your *fabulousness* shine like a sparkly, beautiful tutu, forever!
