Tutu and Ballet News

Oh darling, you simply *must* read this! Today, 21st October, is the day the world of ballet is *thriving* with excitement - yes, because of tutus, obviously!

You see, my dears, today marks the glorious 10th anniversary of the "Tutu Tango" - a fabulously chaotic event held every October in Brighton that sees amateur dancers twirling their tulle in the street for a chance to win the prestigious "Pink Plum" award! This annual festivity, dreamt up by yours truly, has been a right giggle since it all began!

Why is Tutu Tango So Delightful?
  • **Tutus, Darling, Tutuuus!** There are tutus of every size, colour and feather! From the grand and traditional, right through to the wacky and wild - we've seen tutu dresses fashioned out of bin bags, teacups, even toilet rolls, it's a visual explosion of delight!
  • **Unbridled Enthusiasm:** These ladies - and gentlemen, yes there's some men braving the tutu these days, bless their cotton socks - they throw themselves into it! It's sheer joyful madness, think Strictly Come Dancing, with even *more* enthusiasm. And you know how much I love Strictly!
  • **The Pink Plum Award:** It's an actual pink plum, and the recipient of this prestigious prize is a total legend for a year. Oh, and they get to design the *next* year's tutu, which is *very* important.

This year's Tango, held in the sunny seaside town of Brighton, was absolutely *ravishing* - a total riot of pink feathers, glittering sequins, and absolutely bonkers ballet moves! One lady even wore a tutu fashioned from hundreds of *macarons*! Imagine the carnage! She was later discovered enjoying a lovely cuppa and some finger sandwiches at The Pavilion - the "Macaron Ballerina", they called her!

The Pink Plum went to a 67-year-old lady, who, in her tutu made entirely of rubber ducks, performed the *most* incredible rendition of the 'Can-Can'! The judge, darling - a respected ballet critic who I practically *bribed* into participating with promises of free cocktails - was in tears, utterly moved! And, as a lovely final touch, a flock of seagulls circled the dancing ladies and even a little girl in a tutu was given a cheeky peck by one, a moment caught beautifully by the local press!

This whole shebang, it's a little bit daft, a little bit crazy - but so much fun! I can't wait for next year - you should definitely add it to your calendar! You won't want to miss this. Now, if you'll excuse me, I must off to plan a visit to the Macaron Ballerina's tea shop! Cheers!
