Tutu and Ballet News

Oh darling, you wouldn't believe the tutu chaos that descended upon London town yesterday! It was 23rd October, the day the fashion world officially declared that **"tutu Tuesday" is a thing**.

Apparently, a rogue email went out to every influencer, model and, for some inexplicable reason, several local councillors (one even came wearing a tutu with a Union Jack print – absolutely divine, even if it was a bit of a fashion faux pas). All this, in the name of celebrating the sheer, whimsical brilliance of tutus.

Of course, no one would be more excited than me. As a ballet aficionado and connoisseur of all things pretty and frilly, a whole day dedicated to the tutu is like Christmas, Easter and Queen's Birthday rolled into one!

Let me paint you a picture. I arrived at my favourite café for my morning latte (with oat milk, naturally!), and the barista, bless him, was wearing a sparkly pink tutu. Honestly, you could hear the *crackle* of excitement in the air!

It wasn't all sweetness and light, however. Let's just say there were a few "wardrobe malfunctions," shall we? At Harrods, I saw a man attempting to get a refund on a **very, very, VERY** short, very sparkly tutu, apparently purchased for his wife, claiming he'd accidentally bought the "adult" size. Honey, honey, if a tutu's that tight, it's probably not going anywhere!

Then there was the lady on the Tube, a tutu and ballet shoes combo, wearing a face mask, her long blonde hair in a ballerina bun - absolutely immaculate! We were just about to break into a rendition of "Swan Lake" when... wait for it... the doors opened and it was peak rush hour, a veritable ballet of chaos as everyone, and I mean *everyone*, pushed and shoved to get on!

I do, however, have a suggestion for next year. Instead of simply celebrating tutus, let's go all out with **"Tutu Week!"** I have a whole itinerary planned:

  • **"Tutu Tuesday"**: Let's start with the basics, darling. Everything tutu: shops with tutu displays, restaurants with tutu dress codes, even tutus on public transport!
  • **"Tutus & Tiaras Wednesday":** We'll accessorise, darling! Think sparkly hair clips, tiaras, gloves, you name it! Even if it's a bit *extra*, this day is all about the *sparkle*!
  • **"Pointe & Pamper Thursday":** This one's all about indulging. The day to book those ballerina-worthy manis, pedis, and spa days. The best part? We get to wear our tutus!
  • **"The Great Tutu Bake-Off Friday":** Forget cupcakes and cakes! Let's have a baking contest dedicated to creating the most extravagant and glamorous tutu-themed baked goods. (Imagine a chocolate tutu with fondant flowers… heavenly!)
  • **"Tutu & Theatre Saturday":** We dress up, go to the theatre, and maybe even sneak in a quick ballet class afterwards. Perfect for showing off those new dance moves and channeling our inner Swan Queen!
  • **"Sunday Funday: Brunch with Ballerinas":** The perfect way to end the week, we grab brunch with a ballet-themed flair and celebrate all things dance, tutu and fashion. (Of course, we’ll be wearing tutus and fabulous brunch hats, natch.)

So, what do you think, lovelies? I reckon next year's "Tutu Week" will be an absolute smash. And who knows, maybe even Prince Charles will get in on the act!
