Tutu and Ballet News

Oh darling, it's been a long day! Another fabulous performance at the Royal Opera House and a truly divine dinner with my fellow ballerinas at our favourite bistro in Covent Garden, but don't worry, my dears, I'm ready to share all the juicy gossip! It's simply bursting out of me like a newly unfurled tutu.

Let me start with the biggest news - it's simply scandalous! Did you hear that young prodigy, Pierre Duvalier, was seen at a West End club on Friday night, sporting, heaven forbid, a pair of, well, trousers? He, the darling of the ballet world, a man who once pirouetted his way through a tutu and pas de deux with such grace, now embraces the mundane realm of pants. Quelle horreur!

This, my darlings, speaks volumes. It seems the age-old battle between ballet and modern society is reaching its climax. Is it just me, or are we seeing a decline in the exquisite and airy elegance of the traditional tutu? Do we really want our beloved ballerinas to exchange the lightness and femininity of layers upon layers of tulle for…jeans? Perish the thought!

Now, onto the frivolous fun! This week's must-have accessory is definitely a sparkly, oversized broach, perfect for adorning your favorite tutu! It's all the rage at the moment, you know, the 'tutu broach' as we call it! It adds that extra oomph to your outfit - perfect for both practice and those fabulous after-show soirées! The one I'm currently sporting is absolutely divine - a shimmering silver dragon set upon a bed of turquoise and emerald crystals - and guess what, it cost me a pretty penny!

The competition among the ballerinas has become as fierce as a pas de bourrée, and there's more to be seen than just the choreography. Let me tell you, some of these girls are sporting their 'tutu broach' with such audacious panache, I’m surprised they haven't tripped over them yet! Now, one simply can't let a competition get out of hand, darling, so it's important to show off your personality in other ways. But alas, some haven't gotten the memo!

Our very own Madame Penelope Dubois, of the "Prance and Perfection" dance academy (renowned, darlings!), recently got herself embroiled in a most unfortunate incident during a post-performance interview. Madame Dubois, a woman known for her rather extravagant wardrobe and ever-so-subtle use of make-up, decided to go for a bit of ‘bling’. Well, as they say, ‘too much of anything can be bad’!

Madame Dubois chose a pair of silver diamante ballet shoes - absolutely lovely, really - but the sparkly shoe lace, oh darling! You'd think she was wearing a chandelier around her feet! The entire affair went completely off the rails when she tripped over the flamboyant shoes, causing an absolute catastrophe! I simply couldn't resist a small titter. I wonder what she'll be wearing next. Perhaps she'll channel her inner disco diva and come to rehearsal in a pair of silver platform boots? Honestly, darling, I wouldn't be surprised.

Anyway, before my next rehearsal, let me give you some pointers, dears: never, ever let your shoes become the focus! Keep your accessories subtle and keep it all about that magnificent choreography. The focus should be on your artistic elegance and beautiful graceful movement. Oh, and let me know which broach you go for!
