Tututastic! Ballet goes bonkers for a bit of sparkle

Darlings, buckle up your ballet shoes and grab a glass of something bubbly, because the world of ballet has gone utterly, wonderfully bonkers! And I'm not talking about the usual crazy arabesques and fouettés, oh no. This time, it's all about the tutus, my darlings, the glorious, frilly, tulle-tastic tutus.

Yesterday, December 29th, the esteemed Royal Ballet Academy announced a new initiative – the **"Tutu Tuesday"** program! It’s all a bit much, but darling, I must say, I love it! Imagine it: a whole day devoted to celebrating the glorious twirlability of the tutu. It’s everything I’ve ever wanted. Oh, it’s a dream!

I'm talking a complete takeover, lovelies! The Royal Ballet, for example, will be offering special tutu-themed workshops where ballerinas-to-be can learn how to tie the perfect knot, understand the history of the tutu and even how to create their own mini tutu masterpieces, perfect for the tea party after your evening class! The students will get to explore tutus beyond their standard performance attire; tutu as a symbol, as art, as fashion. The imagination will run riot, as long as it’s tutu-related!

But it's not just the professionals getting involved, darling! The whole city's gone tutu-mad! Local department stores have created special "Tutu Tuesdays" displays, featuring everything from frilly socks and ballet slippers to dazzlingly sparkly tutus in all shapes and sizes.

You heard right, darlings: sparkly tutus in all shapes and sizes! I even hear that there's a shop dedicated entirely to **tutu-inspired accessories**. So whether you're after a glitzy tutu hairband or a sparkly tutu-shaped handbag (it's a thing, I swear), there's something for everyone.

Naturally, I had to try a bit of Tutu Tuesday myself. And let me tell you, darling, it's everything a glamorous gal could want! I had my nails painted a sparkling fuchsia (perfect for matching a tutu, wouldn't you agree?), followed by a lovely lunch at a cafe with a delicious tutu-shaped éclair. You know I love a themed delicacy.

But the highlight of the day, darling, was the **Tutu Parade** in Covent Garden. It was utterly sensational! Crowds lined the streets in all sorts of creative tutus – everything from feather boas and feather dusters to handmade paper tutus and tutus made entirely of chocolate! It was utterly fabulous.

As one little girl told me: "My mummy helped me make this one with her own hands, and it's so pretty!" Awww, so sweet. What's not to love?

It was quite lovely to see, for once, the gentlemen embrace this too. Yes, the male dancers even joined in, strutting around in all manner of flamboyant creations. The look on their faces told me they didn’t understand it, darling, but it made their mothers happy, and that was all that mattered. We had gentlemen in full tutu-length skirts (some more elaborate than others, dear readers) and I did spot some tutus made from socks, rather fabulous I have to say!

Even the Queen, in a televised address to the nation, mentioned Tutu Tuesday! She spoke of "the spirit of the tutu and how it symbolises all that is fun and whimsical," adding "we need more whimsy, darling!" I love that woman.

But, alas, all good things must come to an end, darling. Tutu Tuesday is over, at least until next year. But, let's face it, this tutu frenzy is only just beginning. I, for one, have already started planning my **"Tutu Wednesday."** Oh my! And you better believe there will be champagne. Don't miss out. Don’t even think about it. I’m not sharing.
