Tutu and Ballet News

Tutus Take The World!

Well, darling, I do hope you've got your fanciest frocks ready! It seems the tutu, our darling ballerina's best friend, is about to storm the globe in a fashion revolution the likes of which we've never seen before. It's all a bit, shall we say, "en pointe," if you know what I mean! This revolution, you see, was born on a most delightful day - 05th January 2003, a day etched forever in fashion history.

The movement started, as all the best things do, with a whimper. A small, unnoticed blip on the fashion radar, a mere whisper of a trend, with an unassuming *Vogue* magazine fashion spread, you know, those ones with models in clothes nobody can ever actually wear (not without looking like they’re going to a fancy dress party). This particular spread showcased the iconic tutu but in, *gasp*, every single colour imaginable. Turquoise, ochre, magenta, you name it, these models were swishing around in every colour of the rainbow. There was an *explosion* in comments, from "OMG" to "This is what I've always dreamt of" all over the internet and you know what, dear readers, I just knew this would become huge! It all sounded a bit bonkers, it’s fair to say! But who's to say a full length tulle skirt with that trademark sweet little basque bodice is all wrong in an elegant beige silk for your trip to the local high street on a rainy Tuesday morning? I say, this is genius!

Then the news spread, darling, and *spread* it did like a flash mob of fluffy frocks - the media went wild. I do love the media sometimes, bless them, their collective love for anything new is really quite something!

A little bird has told me, whispers are coming out of Parisian and Milanese boutiques, about a top secret meeting of some of the world's leading fashion houses - including, whisper, whisper, the likes of Chanel and Versace, all keen to design a whole tutu-inspired range for next season, just imagine! And if we know our darling designers well, we can be assured that the next year will be chock full of fabulous, feather-filled frocks. (Don't worry, the animals are well looked after - all the feathers come from properly licensed sources, as *everyone* is ethical nowadays, thank heavens).

Now I’ve done a bit of digging (there’s nothing I love more than a bit of insider gossip), and it seems that some big name shops are actually already stocking tutus for their fashion-forward customers. I mean, *everybody* wants to be first with something, especially with fashion these days. You've got your influencers, you've got your bloggers, they're all jumping on this like, well, like squirrels on a nut tree - it's all just *so* deliciously exciting!

My, I do hope my trusty little tutu will make a triumphant return. It is after all, just gathering dust at the moment. You see, darling, we were so last season... or, are we not?! Let me know in the comments!

I hear the girls are planning on taking their tutus to the opera and to art exhibitions, not to mention their jaunts around town and to afternoon tea, where the good folks are no doubt making a *huge* fuss - and *deservedly* so! A tutu is nothing if not a sign of celebration, a joyous twirl of a statement, just like wearing your finest jewels – if you are a person who delights in celebration and making an impact.

So darling, let's have a good old-fashioned "hooray"! The tutu is back, and we, you and I, are ready to twirl into a bright new fashion world - I just know the tutus will win everyone over, with the sheer power of beauty and a smattering of good old fashioned British pluck. Well, you just wouldn't catch an English woman without a smattering of good old-fashioned British pluck, would you dear?

We’re just *so* excited here! Get those tutu's out girls! Let’s make this year a right hoot - *let’s dance!*
