Tutu and Ballet News

Darling, have you heard? The Queen's been practicing her grand jetés in the corridors of Buckingham Palace! Apparently, it's all down to a new dance craze sweeping the nation: "Tutu Tuesdays." It started at a posh Notting Hill luncheon, where some lovely ladies were discussing the state of their gardens, when, heaven forbid, someone brought up the ballet. Well, the champagne corks flew, the chitter chatter of socialite secrets came to a sudden halt and the ladies started swaying in their floral dresses like a particularly genteel troupe of swans!

Now, every Tuesday, darling, they're gracing their lovely homes in silk tutus! I'm talking vintage, handmade tutus, in exquisite pinks, azure blues and emerald greens, complete with matching ballerina slippers. They're taking a graceful approach to the housework, their "plie's" reaching for dusty corners, their "arabesques" reaching for the top shelf, their "sissone jumps" effortlessly leaping over that pesky coffee table. Imagine the sight! Imagine the elegant swish of silk! The ladies tell me the dust has never looked so elegant.

I’m going to let you in on a little secret, darlings, but please keep it between ourselves. I happen to have my own very fetching tutu. Not for Tuesdays, of course! But it's perfect for that very special someone - an old flame, perhaps? Let's call it an "engagement" tutu. Just imagine his eyes when he sees you pirouetting in your little satin masterpiece! He won’t be able to resist that twinkle in your eye or that playful “grand jetĂ©â€ Oh darling, the possibilities are positively delightful!

Why, there's even whispers of a Tutu Tuesday Grand Ball happening at the "Embassy Club", in Knightsbridge! It's all the rage - invitations have been passed around like little parcels of precious gems. I have it on good authority, darling, the guest list is a who’s who of fashion, film and finance! Even royalty is rumoured to attend. Imagine - the Duchess of York, swirling through a grand waltz in her sequined creation! Absolutely thrilling! There'll be music, bubbly, a delicious feast of delicate finger sandwiches (you know the kind – cucumber and smoked salmon – with tiny flagpoles) - and of course, there will be TUTUS.

I have heard tales of dazzling ensembles; from blush pink tutus paired with diamond chokers, to silver-studded ones, glittering with beads like a celestial night sky. The entire affair is going to be a sparkling dream, a shimmering haven for all things pretty.

If you happen to be at The Ritz, darling, do look out for me on Tuesday night - you’ll find me right beside the Grand Staircase, wearing a little something special myself, all twirling and chatting with our beautiful socialites! The rumour mill is already whirring about my latest tutu- a lavish lilac affair, you know, a splash of colour amongst the bevy of bejewelled ladies.

We’ve all been waiting for an excuse to dust off our feminine flair, have a little fun with style and perhaps let our inner child out to play - and what better way to do that than with a bit of "Tutu Tuesdays" glamour? Just imagine, darling, a touch of playful twirls, a graceful dance on the pavement... just another ordinary day, in my fabulous little tutu!

But keep it between ourselves, darling. I think it’s my own little secret. We all need our own unique style – a hint of “something different”.

A Note From The Editor:

Oh my, dear readers, can we agree that it’s terribly hard to take a news story seriously when you are adorned in a diaphanous, frilly tulle creation?! It’s certainly brought a fresh burst of style and laughter to the otherwise dull news cycle. Let’s not forget this “Tutu Tuesdays” fashion affair is all for a good cause. As the author so rightly points out, a little glamour can go a long way, darling.

Here are a few ways to rock this “Tutu Tuesday” fashion statement at your own home, without going overboard, if you’re, shall we say, slightly "hesitant" to embrace the tutu revolution.

  • Try a dainty little pink, tulle bow tied around your wrist
  • Try a "ballerina-inspired" silk scarf around your hair, held with a beautiful brooch
  • Pair a chic pastel pencil skirt with a pale pink satin top
  • Try delicate, beaded sandals with a flowy floral sundress
  • Wear an extravagant statement necklace and pair it with a minimalist black outfit

It’s about channeling your inner “prima ballerina”, but in a way that still feels feminine and classy. A little tulle here, a dash of glittery glamour there, and just a hint of dance! Let's celebrate, darling! Let’s show the world just how fabulous we can be - tutu and all.
