Tutu and Ballet News

Oh my darlings, you won't believe what's happened! It's the most shocking news since that time I accidentally wore my ballet slippers to a *very* posh gala, thinking they were my sparkly heels. Well, darling, I've got news! Tutues, those delightful little pieces of netting that every ballerina dreams of wearing, have gone rogue. I repeat: tutus have gone rogue! I can't help but feel slightly terrified. I mean, they are such delicate creatures, made of tulle and adorned with sparkly bits, and what could possess them to be so mischievous?

According to a reputable (and completely reliable) source, the entire tutues have started their very own revolution. Apparently, they are sick of being confined to the stage, being flung around by ballerinas, and frankly, just existing under the rule of, shall we say, more structured garments like leotards. So they are, according to this same (again, totally trustworthy) source, have planned a take over!

And donā€™t think itā€™s just some small-scale, ā€œWe want a longer hemlineā€ protest, my dears. The tutues have grand plans. They've formed what they're calling The International Society for the Liberation of Tutu. A little dramatic, sure, but they are, as Iā€™ve already mentioned, incredibly delicate creatures. Weā€™re talking a fully fledged revolution! They are planning to rise up and take over the entire fashion industry. It is utterly divine, of course, but, darling, Iā€™m nervous. A bit nervous. What will fashion be like? If our darling tutues take control, imagine the possibilities: every dress will be a billowing swirl of tulle!

We've had whispers for months. A tutu wearing a tiny pair of boots? Just trying to sneak a look at the new season's designer bags. Another spotted dancing around a newsstand, a miniature newsstand of course, demanding equality. Oh! And we can't forget that infamous tutu spotted trying to set up shop in Selfridges! A whole shelf devoted to tulle? You heard it here first, darlings. Tutues have gone mad!

What the tutu uprising will bring.

It's not just the fashion world they are plotting against, dear. This uprising is threatening all of our favourite British traditions! Apparently the tutues want to turn the Houses of Parliament into a gigantic ballet studio, replace the Union Jack with a gigantic version of the tutu and get the entire Queen's Guard dancing the 'can-can' (a little scandalous, that last one, isnā€™t it?) Oh! and the big news ā€“ theyā€™ve also replaced the entire Buckingham Palace staff with tutus! I know, itā€™s unbelievable! Itā€™s like those little tulle poofs decided, ā€œEnough! We are going to take the leadā€. The audacity, darling, the utter audacity!

Where this could leave us: a tutuā€™s vision.

Now I must tell you that this rebellion has left some of us wondering what will become of us humans. Will the tutues make us wear our dresses longer? Will we have to start using more tulle in our everyday wardrobes? Will all of us need to attend ballet classes, dear? My therapist said itā€™s natural to be concerned. The ballet worldā€™s been disrupted so much! (And my therapist has this rather fantastic little cardigan I might get him to let me borrow. A bit of a power move, isnā€™t it? Iā€™ve always been a fan of a good bit of power.) But the biggest questions, of course, are what will happen to fashion! How will we dress?! What will the queen wear on the balcony during Trooping the Colour? What will my dear mother wear for the annual church bake sale? These questions need answers!

Personally, dear, I must say, I'm completely enthralled by it all. A little bit terrified, but I have to say, it does sound rather spectacular! Imagine every outfit you wear, adorned with swirling tulle! What a stunning, magical sight that will be. The tutues could end up ruling our wardrobe, they have so much potential ā€“ letā€™s hope this all goes according to their, very, very carefully, tulle plans! ( I have this lovely idea for a skirtā€¦ perhaps with layers of tulle! Itā€™s almost too perfect.) Stay tuned, darlings, stay tuned.
