Tutu and Ballet News

Dearest darlings, **A Day For Tutu Much Fun!** Let’s be honest, December is a dreary month. The days are shorter, the nights are colder, and all we want to do is curl up in our fluffiest PJs with a hot chocolate and a boxset of Bridgerton. But fear not, my dears, for today – 7th December, 1996 – is a day for celebrating the most joyous and beautiful form of art: ballet! So ditch those jumpers and woolly tights, girls, and let’s raise a glass (of Prosecco, naturally) to the wonder that is the tutu.

Tutu Time! You’re probably thinking, “Oh, tutus are for little girls in fluffy pink tutus,” right? Well, darling, think again! Whilst I adore a good pink tutu, just as much as the next girl (we’ve all dreamt of twirling around in the ballet studio, right? Just me?), tutus have come a long way! You don't need to be a professional ballerina to embrace the tutu; they've been making a serious fashion comeback lately. I even saw a chic pair of pink-tutu-inspired shoes just last week on Alexa Chung, darling! Imagine, rocking a pink tutu with your leopard-print boots - you could be the envy of the entire high street, and I wouldn’t blame them! **So, how do you know you're wearing a tutu, and not just some sparkly skirt, darlings?** Well, a tutu is a multi-layered skirt, typically made from tulle (which sounds like the name of a magical ballet character, don’t you think?) and is either “classic,” in the form of a full, round, circular tutu like one would see worn in a production of Swan Lake or Giselle. Or it can be “layered,” creating an exciting mix of length, depth and drama - a more modern design, you might say, one perfect for our beloved 21st century! And just imagine that on your next first date! "Darling, I do so adore tutus." "So do I." Instant conversation starter, don't you think? I’ll be taking this up for my next first date, I must say. Perhaps he'll think it’s absolutely "tutu fab"! (See? It even has its own fun slang!) **A World of Colourful Tutus** Tutus are for everyone, darling, and that means in a spectrum of colours! The days of simply pink tutus are so last season! These days, tutus are available in a fabulous spectrum of colours and designs! For a whimsical look, embrace a bright pink tutu. Imagine pairing a beautiful white tutu, so white it almost glows with a touch of pink, with your most decadent evening dress! It’s the ultimate power move. I wouldn’t be surprised if it had the same effect as an impeccable diamond necklace! If you prefer a look that's both classy and stylish, then opt for a black tutu, darling! You can never go wrong with a chic and simple design, no matter your personal style.

Beyond The Tutu: The Wonder Of Leotards Of course, darling, a tutu isn't complete without a leotard! They might seem quite daunting at first, But fear not, because leotards are a fashion godsend, I'd say, if you’re brave enough to wear them, you’re embracing your own uniqueness! They're basically second skin, aren't they? They fit like a glove, hugging you in all the right places and accentuating those beautiful curves. Who needs shapewear? But I adore how leotards can really show off those sleek and stylish muscles. It really is a truly beautiful silhouette. It’s no surprise they're being featured on every street style blog (and are already sold in many of the hottest stores like Urban Outfitters! And it is quite possibly one of my most treasured possessions! You can dress it up with a blazer, or dress it down with jeans for a look that’s effortless but utterly stunning, you’ll be sure to make a statement everywhere you go, from the supermarket to the cinema, darling.

Leotard Looks, From Ballet Studio to Street Style Whether it's black, or maybe a delightful, vibrant navy hue or even a pretty white shade for something softer with those cute lace details. The best part is how they’re so versatile! They can easily be worn with anything from a pair of sleek, high-heeled stilettos to a classic denim jacket, as you saw, darling, and trust me, it'll always be an outfit win. There are also different leotard styles to try, such as those with a plunging neckline for a bold, alluring look, and those that go all the way up to the neck for a stylishly conservative vibe! I even love a classic halter neck style with those thin little straps around your shoulder and neck! So elegant. There is a perfect style to suit every fashion sense! A stylish ballet inspired dress-down? Leotards are the best way to do just that! And don't forget: these days there are a gazillion incredible and very different styles that all of you lovely ladies can wear! It’s definitely a modern ballet-chic must-have!
