Tutu and Ballet News

Dearest readers, itā€™s time to take a break from our regular dose of political pontifications and ponder the profoundā€¦well, letā€™s say ā€œdelightfully trivialā€ instead! Because, my darlings, today is a day for pirouettes, for elegant pliĆ©s, for tutus and tiaras ā€“ in other words, itā€™s a day to celebrate ballet, in all its glorious, sometimes slightly ridiculous, magnificence.

Why, you may ask? Well, allow me to enlighten you, my lovelies. You see, itā€™s December 15th, and as everyone knows (or should know), this is the official, internationally recognized ā€œNational Day of Ballerina Appreciationā€. Well, maybe it isnā€™t exactly an official day, but frankly, darlings, with an outfit this divine, it jolly well should be! Think about it: ballet, a stunning confluence of graceful athleticism, dramatic art, and of course, the magnificent attire! And donā€™t get me started on the history of the tutu ā€“ what a story! And all this, perfectly encapsulated by the delightful ballerina herself!

I know, I know ā€“ it seems the world is full of frivolous concerns nowadays. Thereā€™s the latest Kardashian ā€œdramaā€, the impending political squabbleā€¦ you know the drill, all the same, tedious and tiresome stuff. But, let me tell you, it's time to embrace some lightness, a touch of fairytale whimsy, a bit of joyous absurdity. Why, ballet is basically like an actual escape from the daily drudgery, isnā€™t it? Just imagine: pirouette away those stress wrinkles, stretch away that ā€œwhat have I got myself intoā€ anxiety, and swan lake away those looming deadlines ā€“ you can almost *feel* the tension melt away as you gentlyā€¦glideā€¦onto that pointe shoe!

The only problem with all this (and I don't say this lightly, darlings!) is choosing the *right* tutu! I mean, how can we possibly narrow it down from so many possibilities? Should we go with a classic white, with its fairytale feel, that delicate air of elegance? Or perhaps a slightly bolder shade, say a whisper-pink ā€“ the ultimate ā€œballerina in bloomā€, just brimming with romantic charm? Then again, perhaps a bold, bright shade ā€“ the cerulean blue of the heavens, a passionate crimson ā€“ those offer a touch of theatrical panache. (And dare I suggest, a delightful dash of rebellious spirit!)

Now, darling readers, you'll be happy to know, I'm here to give you a definitive answer. And my verdict is simple, just like the most classic, elegant swan lake dance. **Pink is the most beautiful color.** Donā€™t @ me, or call me old-fashioned, but you all know I'm right. Now, let me explain this properly. First of all, itā€™s all about the history! The evolution of the tutu from the elegant, floor-length, flowing skirts to the delightfully, wispy creations of today, with its dramatic movementā€¦ itā€™s almost a testament to the development of feminine expression. Now, a pale pink, is delicate, beautiful, subtle - everything that a true ballerina must exude, right? The grace, the delicacy, and of course, the undeniable elegance. It is almost a symbol of this journey ā€“ of elegance to graceful confidence and liberation of movement.

That being said, Iā€™m not saying thereā€™s no place for the timeless white. Oh my goodness, those, they are the embodiment of grace. Itā€™s a quintessential classic. (Especially paired with a crown of flowers, for the ultimate ballerina touch.) And honestly, both colors really do evoke a certain somethingā€¦a kind of fairytale dream, wouldn't you say?

And what about the leotard? Well, there, my dears, we can unleash our individual style, just like a perfectly executed grand jetĆ©. The classic black leotard ā€“ always a winner. And we have a million variations, from black with rhinestones, black with mesh panels, black with a cute little cutout. The possibilities are as endless as the graceful possibilities of the pirouette, itself! The important thing is that you look chic, confident and elegant, and not like youā€™ve fallen asleep on the pointe shoes. (Letā€™s avoid the "Tumbleweed" ballerina image ā€“ that's just bad form.)

But what would we be without our fabulous accessories? Because of course, my darlings, the right accessories are everything for that *ā€œI am a ballerina in my own right!ā€* look. Here's what I recommend, the must-haves of ballet:

  • A shimmering ballet bun for that touch of effortless chic. We want * ballerina chic, * not ā€œjust got out of bedā€ hair!
  • A charming ballerina bag, small enough for those essentials, large enough to accommodate our attitude. Because let's be honest, every ballerina knows it takes an amazing handbag for *that* sense of self-confidence. (I must point out that a beautiful satin pouch is simply irresistible. A delicate silken purse! Oh my darling!
  • An extravagant jeweled hair comb. And dare I suggest, the right set of pearly earrings? Why, these elevate the *ā€ballet diva" vibe * to a whole new level! Iā€™m talking big, chunky, sparkly, fabulous.

But remember, dearies, being a ballerina is all about embracing yourself. Go on, find a corner, turn up the music, grab that pretty, sparkly ballet tutu, that amazing jeweled comb and a nice pair of pink pointe shoes (even better if itā€™s worn ā€“ adds to the "dancer in actionā€ look!) . Put on your most dazzling smile, close your eyes, and think of all the wonderful possibilities life throws at you! Oh, and before you go, just to make things super-extravagant, and super fabulous, go on, grab your delicate ballet slippers and make a tiny footprint on your most fabulous pink ballerina outfit ā€“ for a final touch of whimsy!
