Tutu and Ballet News

Darling, can you believe it? It’s 12 January 1997! The day we’ve all been waiting for. The day when the fashion world, well, the ballet world at least, is turning upside down, inside out and possibly even outside in.

That’s right, darlings, because today we are witnessing the **"Great Tutu Turnover!"** This earth-shattering, revolutionary, momentous, monumental and downright sensational event sees pink tutus replaced by… white tutus. Well, actually, there are going to be white and pink tutus. But the real big deal is that for the first time ever we’ll be seeing both in the same performance. Goodness me, how will our eyes cope with such extravagance?

I’m just bursting with excitement to spill the tea – I’m simply beside myself. This momentous occasion comes after months of heated debate, endless whisperings backstage and quite a few cheeky, gossip-filled phone calls. In fact, the rumour mill started churning almost as soon as The Bolshoi put on *Swan Lake* back in the 80s. And it was *that* ballet, that classic tale of love, betrayal and, well, tutus, that finally, finally brought the battle between pink and white tutus to an end.

Here are the hottest fashion gossip talking points to chew on:
  • Some are calling it "The Battle of the Tutu," but, frankly darling, we can't have battles - we need cooperation!
  • Is white too *serious* for *Swan Lake* ? Pink just seems too … well, pretty. Surely this is what’s sparked this *huge* revolution in the tutu world! I hear the rumour mill is hot with this theory.
  • Let's not forget those poor swans! Having to decide between pink and white… it must be terrifying!
  • Personally, I’m on Team White. It's simply so *chic*, so timeless. Although, darling, let’s face it – both pink and white look perfectly fabulous on those glorious, leggy ballerinas. (Of course I’ve also added white tutus to my new collection - darling, I just couldn’t resist!)
  • Can you believe there are those out there who think a *grey* tutu might be *chic*? Good grief!

All I can say, darlings, is that this is just the start. And just imagine – maybe even yellow, orange or turquoise will be popping up next season. It’s simply an exciting time to be alive and… be watching ballet!

Anyway, darling, we’ve got an important day to celebrate! Now I simply must rush to my dressing table and see how many sparkly hair pins I can get into this glorious hair do! Ooh, and darling – did you see the latest leotard trend? Strappy with diamonds!
