Tutu and Ballet News

Dearest dears! The day is here! It is the 6th of February 1997! You know what that means...time for the latest update from your favourite, totally fab ballet correspondent!

I am utterly giddy and absolutely thrilled to share my fab findings with you all this morning! You see, I got wind of the most utterly exquisite story - I've been digging for this, I've been watching for it...and this week, honey, the ballet world exploded! You all know me well enough by now - you're right, the biggest, brightest stories in ballet happen on the outside. You see darling, you can always depend on ballet, because we have this extraordinary capacity for spectacle. No one, and I mean *no one* can rival ballet! The outfits, the moves...all these stories - they just flow, darling, like a graceful ballerina twirling across a shimmering stage!

And this latest story, let me tell you, this isn't just *any* story, this is what you would call... *showstopping!*

What a Colour!

Can you imagine... it is a simple enough story, really. But this...this is going down in history! The most renowned ballerina, *ever,* was getting ready to grace the stage. A breathtaking beauty, as they always are, naturally, and the biggest *shock* to her wardrobe - she had a pink tutu and a white tutu and couldn't decide which to wear. But here is the best part - *both were exquisite, of course.* I mean, can you *imagine*? Imagine this beautiful lady, standing there in her *totally fabulous* ballet leotard, and... wait for it! ... and *she decided she would wear both*. You just have to *pinch* yourself because this is insane - *this is amazing!* She is, and I cannot emphasise this enough, wearing the **pink** tutu at the bottom of her legs, and she **then* covers it with the white tutu at her waist.

Honestly, honey - this is something the rest of us can't imagine. It's so shockingly beautiful - it was actually revolutionary, like the time those ladies got fed up with those stiff corsets and started rocking pants, or those fab ladies with those big hoop skirts who got brave enough to walk out the door wearing trousers.

I hear they had a whole team of designers scrambling and even, I believe, they had to call in the *national security* to make sure they could keep these, well... these **twos*... *secrets*, as I mentioned, I understand, from even *the Prime Minister*.

It was that big.

I mean it was *beyond* exciting! What were they supposed to do, this is *the most famous ballet dancer ever,* this is **the greatest star*, she's been gracing stages, with the **absolute *most beautiful* twirls, leaps, and poses since before the **very first world war*.

She even, apparently, made her first public debut wearing... wait for it! ....*an entire, **fully feathered outfit!** Imagine the drama! *

Now this new fashion statement? You just can't tell if it was... you see, she doesn't really look at any *fashion news* - no magazine for her - no internet (if they even *had* the internet, back then... don't they have that *special dial-up* service on some of those little computer devices, called something like... the internet?) or anything, to be honest. Not even that **teletext service** on some televisions, I mean...no, none of that. She just wears **beautiful garments**. She wears what looks **fabulous**, she even wears a **fantastic hat, every single day*. She actually wears a hat that, well...it is *exactly* like a *little ballerina doll.* How exciting, right! So the media didn't get anything until after the fact, but by *gosh*, *everyone was saying - *we have got to know,* and, let's be honest, you would be a *complete fool not to*. This was a major, and I can't *over-emphasise* that enough, a *major, big-deal, exciting, revolutionary news story*! We're talking about the biggest ballerina in the world, the **star of the stage!** The **dancing genius**!

Just imagine... a dance to make a woman want to dance, the best ballerina, and then *that*, with a *pink and white, stunning, double tutu... what a masterpiece*!

Now *my dear*.. I can already tell the media is absolutely beside themselves - the newspapers...all that speculation and all the opinions! The internet must be exploding (did they have *news websites*, back in *1997?* I have no idea - those were different times.. oh, the times! ) And then you get the television and all their little sound-bytes - *can you even* - and everyone going to the *shows* - the theatres, full of people... I can't even think about it - the **joy!**

So I thought this week it would be interesting, to take a little peek into our own lives. Let's get into our little world - shall we - to get to know our *selves* just a bit better - and who knows maybe we will find ourselves all those **stunning**, **eye-catching** *double tutus!* So if you want to grab a little tea or coffee or your little *fizzy drink* (are they still called *fizzy drinks*??). Just keep reading.. we're in it, together, until the last twirl!

The biggest question, of course, is whether or not *all the girls* will be rushing to wear this outfit for all those parties. Will they all have to have one in every color? Or will this become another "passé" trend. (Sorry dear reader, I could not *possibly* help myself! ) And we're *still waiting* to hear from our big star - she was out on the stage for hours, but no *media* (it had not been long after the invention of the internet, remember), could get through, *nothing* not even a telegram! Everyone has been waiting, all day, but nothing...nothing yet. That's her, darling, the **biggest *star* ever**. **No rules, no exceptions. And a real diva**!

Now it is truly exciting for me... It just *is*, all of this is so amazing to me... and to top it off the papers even made up a whole lot of words, all so very nice, and the new, and all of those sorts of things!

Here is a quick peek inside the exciting media's new phrases and terms, but just remember these are totally, absolutely not *my opinion*, the whole thing is *quite a spectacle* and *amazing*:
  • Ballet Nouveau
  • Fashion-Forward Tutu
  • Trendsetter in Tutus
  • A double tutu dancewear icon
  • Dance Diva
  • The most spectacular and fabulous of our time
  • A Double Tutu Revolution

And that's all *my dears*, this week's latest from your correspondent from the heart of all things ballet, this has been your **favorite**, your **special*, **fashionable,** **feminine*, **absolutely *delighted** to give you this little, **totally fabulous* update! *Au revoir, darlings!*
