Tutu and Ballet News

Darlings! Can you believe it? It's May 12th, 1997! The very day we celebrate the grand, glorious, utterly fabulous tutu. It’s been a year since we launched our "Tutu Tuesday" campaign, and the world has embraced the tulle-y delights of twirling in frilly fabulousness. From schoolyard skip-roping to the hallowed halls of the Bolshoi, tutus have swept the globe. Just think about it – imagine the joy, the grace, the pure, unadulterated *fashion*!

But oh, the drama! The day has been plagued with tutus-related hiccups! Apparently, some of our more … *mature*… clientele had some "mishaps." It seems that a rather flamboyant retired prima ballerina named Betty Booty, bless her cotton socks, decided to go full “Black Swan” at a local supermarket. Apparently, the supermarket manager's attempts to persuade her to “leave the swan for the swan lake" fell on deaf ears. This, dear reader, led to an entire trolley's worth of bananas being tossed in a spectacular pirouette, ending in a magnificent – and somewhat slippery – grand jeté across the fruit and veg aisle.

Not to be outdone, a group of particularly energetic pre-schoolers at a nearby nursery school apparently decided that a Tutu Tuesday should be all about… well… **all about**! The teacher, a young, doe-eyed darling named Prudence, told me she was utterly flummoxed, darling. It seems they insisted on performing “Tutu Tuesday Twerks" in front of a bewildered group of parents attending the annual summer fundraiser. She was positively flustered, darling! The children, bless their little hearts, were adamant that a “Tutu Tuesday” meant *anything* went! "It's all about fun, and expressive movement," one tiny, pink-faced tot chirped through a mouthful of jelly-beans. I must admit, darling, the image of a 5-year old doing a twerk in a tutu… rather glorious! They definitely made a *statement*!

But this story has a heart-warming end! You see, the tutu craze has captured the imagination of the good folks of Bogglebottom Village. A group of middle-aged gardeners, calling themselves the "Bloomers & Blinders" had the brilliant idea of performing their “Annual Summer Garden Show” in an explosion of frilly loveliness. The show culminated with a grand finale that involved six burly gentlemen in sequined tutus and silk flowers, gracefully marching to a rendition of “It's Raining Men.”

I simply *adore* the heartwarming spectacle of people of all ages embracing the transformative power of the tutu, darling. Whether they're skipping in the park or showcasing their unique artistic expression at a local market, it’s clear that the tutu is far more than a simple garment. It is, in its purest essence, an invitation to embrace playfulness, joy, and self-expression. And to all my darlings who find themselves wearing tutus on a *Tutu Tuesday,* I urge you – wear them with pride, confidence, and a *pinch* of whimsy! After all, as the saying goes, "The world is your stage."
