Tutu and Ballet News

**Oh, darling! Fancy a spot of Ballet with a side of bubbles?**

As a true devotee to the graceful world of dance, I’m always thrilled when a new ballet troupe pops up, especially one as quirky and fun as this. Yes, darling, we're talking tutu twirling and leaping to a soundtrack that would make your grandmother blush, the aptly named **Pink and White Ballet.** But don't be fooled by the sugary-sweet title; this isn't your typical, demure, dainty ballet troupe! Oh no, darling, they're ready to shake up the world of classical dance with their fabulous frocks, cheeky choreographies, and some seriously hilarious high kicks!

This troupe of talented dancers (who have all secretly always wanted to be pop stars) have traded in their typical, dull, boring ballet studio for a pink-and-white paradise - complete with giant fluffy boas, feather boas and more sparkly sequins than you could shake a stick at.

But how can these ballet babes do all that jumping and twirling in these outrageous get-ups you ask? It's all about choosing the right fit, darling! The leotards have been specially designed for ultimate flexibility, featuring strategically placed elastic for added stretch (don't worry, everything is strategically covered!) and those stunning white tutus (all hand-beaded and fluffed to perfection, by the way!) are crafted from featherweight tulle, perfect for executing that high leg split or effortless pirouette, even with a feather boa in your hair.

And the performances, well, darling, let’s just say they're bursting with energy! From witty interpretive dance to synchronized leg kicks (so high they almost touch the chandelier!), these sassy swans don't disappoint. You might be left gasping for breath at some of their daring moves (like the triple-pirouette-jump with a twist!) and you can be sure you'll find yourself smiling so wide your face hurts.

Don't worry about stiff upper lips and snooty stares at these shows, you'll be laughing along with the dancers and other ballet buffs in the audience, all in good spirits! Just don't try to follow their dance moves at home, you’ll probably end up like a wobbly Christmas tree!

**Pink and White Ballet**, the company was launched earlier today with an incredibly entertaining showcase called "Tutus, Tiaras, and Twerking" at The Grand Theatre. And it's a real feather in their cap. It's sure to cause quite a stir and inject a much-needed dose of fun into the traditionally stuffy world of ballet.

The ballet opened with a spectacular dance routine set to a high energy remix of 80s pop hits like **"Eye of the Tiger,"** **"Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)"** and **"Like a Prayer".** The audience erupted in cheers. There was also a very creative interpretation of a traditional piece, **"Swan Lake"**. But in this case, the ballet was played out in an oversized swan costume designed for two dancers who did a brilliant, synchronized dance (and the entire audience just went wild).

But darling, this was just the first act! Next, Pink and White Ballet, unleashed their version of a modern ballet inspired by contemporary hip hop street culture, with choreography that was not for the faint-hearted! Let's just say this part of the show had the whole audience dancing in their seats and yelling out things like "Yeah Girl!"

And then came a surprise guest appearance that brought the house down, with **Rita Ora** making a cameo appearance on stage to perform a dance number with the company.

As much as I enjoy watching the graceful flow and traditional movements of classical ballet, this performance reminded me just how diverse and exciting the dance world can be. Let’s raise a glass to Pink and White Ballet, their fun loving attitude, and to all those who want to see ballet break out of its traditional box and shake things up!

And for my dear ballet devotees, if you want to add a little sparkle and joy to your weekend, don't miss Pink and White Ballet’s next performance in June, "Diamonds are a Dancer's Best Friend."

Be warned, though: you might need a little more glitter in your life after witnessing this fantastic, frivolous performance!

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to add some sparkle to my wardrobe (or shall I say to my tutu) and plan a visit to "Pink and White Ballet’s" website for more information on upcoming performances.
