Tutu and Ballet News

Darling readers, I am simply bursting to share the latest news in the world of ballet. The news you've been waiting for... perhaps even the news you didn't know you were waiting for... but I guarantee you'll be positively tickled pink by it!

Today, 6th June 2006, marks a landmark day in the world of ballet. Not the kind of landmark you see on a dusty old history book, but the kind of landmark that leaves you giddy with delight, darling. What is this groundbreaking event, you ask? Well, you've heard of pink and white tutus... yes? Perhaps even the odd bright blue or lavender one (heaven forfend!). But have you ever heard of **BLACK tutus?!**

Well, hold onto your dancing shoes, my lovelies, because black tutus are **HERE** and they are here to stay!

It all started with the up-and-coming choreographer, **Bartholomew Black** (not to be confused with the infamous Baron von Black, darling... that's a story for another time!).

He presented a daring new work called "**The Black Swan of Bohemia**," which was performed to rave reviews by the world-renowned, nay, **divine** Royal Ballet at Covent Garden. The leading lady, **Natasha Nightingale** (the **Queen** of contemporary ballet if you ask me!) performed the choreography to absolute perfection in a **dazzling, scandalous** black tutu. A sight that sent shockwaves through the industry. The sheer daring of it all, dear readers, simply left audiences speechless!

It was **black**. It was **beautiful** . It was **revolutionary**.

Imagine the buzz! The gossip! The endless debates at the ballet watering holes. “Has the world gone mad?”, shrieked the traditionalists. “Why? How?”, wailed the older dancers who’d dedicated their lives to **white** and **pink** .

But Bartholomew remained resolute, darling. "Why are tutus confined to only pale, fluffy hues?” he challenged with the utmost passion. “Our art form is about daring to be different. **Our stories need darkness**! And where there's darkness, there's always a bit of **drama**, and drama is simply delicious."

Oh, he was **spot-on**, darling!

Of course, this black tutu had the audacity to not just break boundaries but be downright stylish. This was not some tattered black sack cloth, no, no, no. It was exquisite! Flowing and majestic with black velvet, silk and even a touch of **tulle** here and there, designed by the infamous fashion designer, **Adrian McQueen**. I wouldn’t be surprised if it ended up in the Victoria and Albert Museum one day! Imagine, that! A black tutu in a museum!

Needless to say, the **buzz** of Bartholomew's creation, of Natasha’s sublime performance and the drama it caused made the headlines. It wasn't just a dance piece; it was a **cultural phenomenon**, my dear readers. Black became the colour of choice for all the up-and-coming ballerinas. Even the most revered institutions are embracing it, the Royal Opera House announced they will have an all-black tutu ensemble at their annual gala. **Can you imagine?!**

It was truly a paradigm shift! A rebellion against the norm! And let me tell you, a change I welcome with open arms and a little **wink** to the divine Bartholomew!

The question now is: what's next? **Blue? Red? Lime green?** Will designers start incorporating sequins? Fur? Feathered embellishments?! Will we have a **clash of colors?!**

Darling, you can practically taste the excitement! Ballet is now officially back, and I, for one, can’t wait to see where the world of tutu fashion takes us next!

Now if you’ll excuse me, my dears, I've got a dance rehearsal to get to! And a very exciting dress rehearsal for a piece featuring **iridescent** purple and **fuchsia** tutus I must say!

Remember, keep a lookout for the next groundbreaking trends!

Keep your dancing shoes ready! Until next time!
