Tutu and Ballet News

Dearest readers, gather 'round, for today's news is *truly* something to pirouette about! 13th July 2007, darlings, is the day that all our ballet dreams come true. Yes, it's the *International Day of the Tutu*. That's right, an entire day devoted to the tulle dream we all wear in our hearts!

This isn't your stuffy, traditional ballet news, dear ones. Today's all about celebrating the *fun* side of ballet. Let's talk pink! Let's talk frills! Let's talk about that feeling of utter *magic* that only a perfectly-whirled tutu can bring.

This *fabulous* day, brought to you by the ever-so-devoted International Council of Ballet (or ICB - get it?! A council, a... ballet?!), is all about encouraging the *art* of the tutu and all its magical, sparkly variations.

We've got all sorts of excitement lined up for this, darling:

  • **Global Tutu Competition:** Forget the Royal Ballet (too serious, honey). This is where the truly whimsical twirl. Imagine tutus of rainbow colours, tutus with feathers, tutus that glow in the dark, tutus that look like giant cupcakes... It's a ballet lover's dream come true!
  • **Tutu Tastic Bake Off:** This one has us truly excited! Baking competitions are already super hot, and imagine this one involving tutu-themed cakes, cupcakes and macarons! We already have our eyes on a raspberry mousse cake decorated to look like a perfect pink tutu - *yum*!
  • **Tutu Pop-Up Shops:** Expect a sudden surge in all things tulle. From your local boutique to the high streets and every online retailer you can think of, we're talking a full-on tutu-explosion! And for every purchase made (we're looking at you, dear readers!), a percentage will go to charity. Let's face it: this is what it's all about, honey.
  • **The Tutu Throwdown:** Don't be mistaken, darling, we won't be hurling tutus at one another. Instead, think of this as the ultimate celebration of the art of the tutu. It's a whole day of workshops, performances, and even a tutu-making competition. Let's see those creations!

Whether you're a veteran ballerina, a dance enthusiast, or simply a lover of all things sparkly, we urge you to get involved in this tutu spectacular.

But darling, we're not stopping at tutus. The International Council of Ballet also decided that, in the name of all things fun, the 13th July should also be celebrated as the International Day of the Leotard.

That's right. Another day to celebrate the sheer beauty and utility of the second essential item of a ballerina's wardrobe - the leotard! It's what we wear to practice all those graceful movements to perfection, we wear it to performance, and we even wear it when we're just lounging at home.

The ICB's motto is 'Life is better in a leotard', and honey, they have a point. Not only does it keep us warm and stretchy, it just makes you feel *so much* more confident and ready to conquer the world. We know a leotard is much more than a piece of clothing, it's an attitude! And the ICB knows it, and that's why they created this amazing celebration of all things leotard.

So, we say, Let's go full-on-Tutu on July 13th. Throw on your most glamorous tulle skirt (no matter the occasion), let's wear those leotards with proud, and make the whole world see the magical, graceful beauty of the dance world. That's right - let's celebrate the *glamour* of ballet!
